Why I never “treat” myself
I don’t like to use the idea of treat days or treat items because then I have a connotation that I need to earn these items and if I don’t reach that goal to earn it then I feel like a failure.
Instead I like to sprinkle in these “treat” items into daily occurrences. With this I also redefined what I saw as a treat.
A treat was now anything that I didn’t need on a daily basis or something that isn’t essential to my health and wellbeing. This includes so so many things which makes it fun.
For example: I go to the grocery store to buy my weekly groceries. While there maybe I also pick up a new ice cream flavor I want to try or that ollipop I saw on TikTok. These aren’t my normal essentials so thus it’s a treat.
I always add something in like that when I can because life is hard and we only live it once so we might as well always offer ourselves a small treat because we never know when it’s our last.
