Or is it?
I actually did a study on this in college as my senior capstone. We surveyed classes and students at our college in NH in 2022.
We found through our study that around 63% of people aged 18-24 struggle with their self identity. And of those individuals, about 78% spent excess time (more than 6 hours a day) on social media.
We added some questions regarding self image and sense of self based on social media interactions. Such as “how do you feel about posting something unique?” and “how does it make you feel if no one likes your post?”
From this we found 37% of people had serious self doubts about themselves when viewed from a social media standpoint.
We also had 24% of people view themselves BETTER or more socially acceptable on social media in comparison to real life.
What do you guys think about this study?
