Working with AI as a 20 year old

Working with AI was never something I imagined I would do briefly off the fact that I am and English and Psychology major. However, I was reached out to by the company I work for BECAUSE of my English degree and it’s been amazing.

I use to work a full time job AND a part time job to make ends meet while still getting my bachelors. I now work remote as a 20 year old and it has its perks. I get to live my life as I would if jobs were not an issue as well as travel to my liking to see my Long Distance boyfriend or even friends.

It is a world you could never imagine with how these chat boxes and robots respond and comprehend things. I’m gaining so much experience and expertise on AI that I can use in the future and the fact that I also get the experience in my degree at the same time.

If the opportunity ever arises for one of you do not hesitate to jump on board no matter how scary it seems or inexperienced you may think you are.

Tips to get started:

- look through Indeed or LinkedIn for remote positions regarding your degree

-make sure it’s in a field you have complete knowledge over

-once accepted make sure you ABSOLUTELY pay attention to the instructions of your tasks if you don’t you will be kicked off the project indefinitely

-make sure you are putting a lot of effort into your reviews or dialogues!

-have fun, don’t stress about things that will work out such as not being able to complete a task or not understanding a specific objective there are people always there to help via discourse

... Read moreAs a young adult in today's rapidly evolving job market, the integration of AI in various professional fields has opened up new opportunities. Many companies are now seeking individuals from diverse educational backgrounds to leverage their unique perspectives. For instance, students majoring in liberal arts can find value in understanding AI technologies as these skills become increasingly relevant across industries. Furthermore, starting a career in AI can lead to flexibility in the workplace, allowing for remote work and adaptable schedules, which is especially appealing to college students. To begin your journey in the AI sector, consider pursuing internships or entry-level positions related to AI applications that align with your degree. Websites like Indeed and LinkedIn often list opportunities for recent graduates or students that make use of AI tools. Many roles accommodate various educational backgrounds as long as you demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt. Networking with professionals in the field can also be beneficial. Engaging with communities on platforms such as Discord or Reddit, where individuals share experiences and advice about transitioning to AI roles, can provide insights that you might not find elsewhere. Consider seeking mentorship opportunities or workshops focused on AI skills to deepen your knowledge. As you navigate your career path, remember the importance of proactive communication and asking questions when faced with challenges. AI projects often involve collaboration, and being open to feedback can accelerate your learning. Don't hesitate to embrace opportunities that may seem daunting—it’s through these experiences that valuable skills and confidence are built.
