How to tackle your midterms

Midterms are stressful and can feel overwhelming. Having 3-4 tests in a week makes you feel like there is no time to study or hang out with friends. But heres how to manage it all!

Study: Try to study between classes. Review material and look over stuff you do not know. After class take 4 hours max and focus one hour per class. It seems like a lot but breaking it up into manageable chunks is perfect. Try to study 4 hours every other day. And those off days focus on being productive elsewhere. Set up a plan on what you want to study rather than just winging it. Try setting up incentives to finish something like candy or reading a few pages in your favorite book. Maintaining discipline is key!

Social and self care: in between studying focus on laundry or cleaning. Staying productive and keeping that burst helps. On the off days with less studying tackle the big stuff in your life. It is okay to go out with friends but allocate time to your learning too. Hanging out for a couple hours for dinner and icecream is great to maintain your social and mental health. Take time to do an “everything shower” or practice self care. Maintain your mental health will help your overall confidence

Lots of people focus on one thing or the other and don’t allow enough time for the other aspect. Learning your balance and what works for you is a process but figuring it out is important now and in the future at your big fancy job.

You got this!!! Good luck! Please leave any other tips and tricks!

... Read moreMidterms can be challenging, but knowing how to approach them can make all the difference. It’s important to create a study plan that includes short, focused sessions, ideally broken down into manageable chunks. For instance, if you have multiple subjects, dedicate around one hour to each subject per day, allowing for adequate review time before tests. Furthermore, integrating self-care into your study routine is crucial. This includes taking necessary breaks, practicing mindfulness, and even engaging in light physical activities to keep your mind sharp. One effective strategy is to reward yourself after completing study sessions with small treats, ensuring motivation remains high throughout your preparation. Additionally, connecting with peers can provide a support system during this stressful time. Forming study groups can not only help with clarifying difficult topics but also foster a sense of community, helping you feel less isolated. Remember, it’s important to maintain a balance between your academic responsibilities and social life to support your mental wellness. Moreover, consider using academic resources available at your school, from tutoring centers to counseling services. These can offer assistance tailored to your needs, ensuring you approach your midterms with confidence and preparedness. Through effective planning and a positive mindset, you can tackle your midterms head-on and come out successful!
