Prep for a weeks worth of school meals
Hey yall,
Here’s a few meal prep ideas for School. I have a working microwave in the buildings that I’m in for lunch, so it makes it nice when I am at school all day long. I commute about 45 minutes to school every single day so it’s essential that I have everything packed.
Each meal is around 300 calories. I snack a lot during the day with fruits so that’s how I maintain around 1200-1500 calories.
⭐️ Chicken, potatoes, and zucchini & squash
2/3 of Costco grilled chicken packets
1/3 cup sweet potatoes roasted (avacado oil, salt,& pepper)
small amount Zucchini and squash (measure with your heart) (see below)
I literally just roasted everything and kept it simple and easy. I don’t like my potatoes to get super soggy from either the meat or the other veggies so I kind of separate them with some tinfoil.
⭐️ egg, ground turkey and broccoli
1 egg
1/3 cup turkey
1/4 cup broccoli
Cook the ground turkey and seasoned to your liking, then add broccoli and a little bit of water to steam. Make sure to drain the excess water and portion out. Then in the same pan, cook your eggs And portion.
⭐️ sausage, rice, and zucchini & squash
1 beef sausage link
1/2 cup brown rice
small amount Zucchini and squash (measure with your heart) (see below)
Cook your rice and sausage Link at the same time. Bake your zucchini and squash and portion out evenly.
—> For the zucchini and squash, I used one zucchini and one squash that are absolutely gigantic from my personal garden and baked them.
Let me know if you have any questions on temperatures or anything. Most of it was just looking online to see how to cook something and then compiling it all together.

Meal prepping for school can save time, reduce stress, and help maintain a balanced diet during busy academic weeks. Incorporating nutrient-dense foods such as grilled chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli, and brown rice ensures you get the proteins, carbohydrates, and vitamins necessary for sustained energy throughout the day. Roasting vegetables like zucchini and squash retains their flavor and nutrients, while separating potatoes with foil helps keep them crisp instead of soggy—a great tip mentioned for quality meal texture. Keeping meals around 300 calories with additional fruit snacks helps manage daily caloric intake efficiently, supporting weight goals and energy needs. Including protein-rich options like eggs, ground turkey, and beef sausage supports muscle repair and satiety. When prepping meals intended to be reheated in a microwave at school, it's essential to cook ingredients thoroughly, drain excess water after steaming vegetables, and portion meals carefully for convenience. To optimize meal variety and nutrition, consider alternating similar meals across the week, such as swapping broccoli for other steamed vegetables like green beans or carrots. Incorporating a colorful range increases antioxidant intake and makes meals more visually appealing. Finally, using fresh garden produce like large zucchinis and squash not only enhances flavor but also encourages the consumption of seasonal and local vegetables, which tend to be more nutritious. This meal prep approach balances practicality, taste, and health—helping students stay fueled and focused throughout their day.
