Things you MUST keep in mind when it comes to your skin health:

1. Hydration is key. Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water! A gallon a day at most will make a tremendous improvement in your skin health as well as your overall health! 💦

2. Not every skin type is the same! These products work for me because I know they benefit my skin type (sensitive/combo skin) and I’ve tried many different skincare products over the years so I know what’ll damage/benefit my skin.

3. Stop touching your face. Now. Please! 🛑 I know it’s hard because I do the same everyday. When you notice that you’re picking at a pimple when you aren’t supposed to, please remind yourself it’s not going to benefit your skin long term. Trust me. I learned the hard way!

I've learned so much on my journey, and these are some of my absolute favorite skin health hacks that really made a difference for me, especially when the initial steps weren't quite enough. First off, while drinking water is crucial, topical hydration is a game-changer! I used to think a simple moisturizer was enough, but incorporating a hyaluronic acid serum before my moisturizer made my skin feel plump and dewy like never before. It's like giving your skin a big drink of water from the outside in. Look for ingredients that lock in moisture, like ceramides, especially if you have sensitive or combo skin like mine. They really help strengthen your skin barrier, which is essential for that healthy, radiant look. Next, let's talk about what you put into your body, not just on it. I noticed a huge difference in my skin's luminosity when I started focusing on my diet. Think vibrant fruits and veggies rich in antioxidants – berries, leafy greens, and bell peppers are my go-tos. And don't shy away from healthy fats! Avocados, nuts, and omega-3s from fish oil supplements or flaxseeds have given my skin a much-needed boost of internal hydration and a smoother texture. It’s a true natural glow from the inside out. Another hack I swear by for achieving that natural radiance is gentle exfoliation. Not too often, and not too harsh! For my sensitive skin, I found that a mild chemical exfoliant (like a low-percentage AHA or BHA toner) once or twice a week works wonders. It sloughs away dead skin cells that can make your complexion look dull, revealing the fresh, brighter skin underneath. Just remember to be super gentle and always follow up with SPF, which brings me to my next point. Sun protection isn't just about preventing sunburn; it's vital for maintaining skin health and that coveted glow. Sun damage causes premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and can really dull your complexion over time. I never skip my SPF 30 (at least!), even on cloudy days. It’s arguably the most important step in protecting your skin's long-term radiance and preventing future struggles for that glowy natural skin look. And finally, don't underestimate the power of beauty sleep and stress management. When I'm well-rested, my skin looks noticeably brighter and less tired. I try to get at least 7-8 hours a night. And stress? It can wreak havoc on your skin! Finding ways to relax, whether it's through meditation, a warm bath, or just reading a book, helps keep those breakouts at bay and promotes an overall calmer, healthier complexion. These skin health hacks might seem simple, but consistency is key for truly amazing results.
