New release that I couldn’t put down!!🚔🪪🔥🌲

⭐️Overall rating: 5/5: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Once I was 20% into this book, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. It was one of those books where you are dying to finish it because you must know what is going to happen, and the twists this book had were immaculate.

"Would you accept the dare?

In Marley's town, seniors are given a prank as a rite of passage...a dare, if you will. The dares start out simple... egging houses, balloons filled with glitter, chickens running loose in the halls.

But this is no child's play.

Accepting a dare means you could be expelled, arrested, or worse. No one wants to back down from a dare. But saying yes has consequences, too..."

This year Rhett dares Marley and her friends - Jesse, Luce, and Atlas - to drive danger alley with no headlights. That night changed them all and now they are tied together for life with the secret of what they did. When Marley's friends start icing her out and she starts to get cryptic messages it's clear someone knows and wants Marley to take the fall. Can she figure out who is messaging her and why her friends are starting to look more like strangers before her future is ripped away?

This was so good and a must read! The book came out may 7th and honestly was my favorite read of the month!

... Read moreOkay, so I know I just raved about 'The Dare' by Natasha Preston, but I really want to dive a bit deeper into why books centered around 'insane senior pranks' hit so differently, especially when they take a dark turn like this one. It's not just about the thrill of the prank itself, but what happens when harmless fun spirals completely out of control. Think about it: those high school rites of passage, like senior pranks, usually feel innocent enough. Egging a house, glitter bombs – sometimes a bit messy, but rarely life-altering. But what if one of these dares, like driving 'danger alley with no headlights,' changes everything? That's where authors like Natasha Preston really excel. They take that relatable concept of a teenage dare and crank up the tension, adding layers of secrets, betrayal, and unforeseen consequences. That's exactly what drew me into 'The Dare' from page one. What really stands out in stories with these 'insane plot twists' is how quickly the lines blur between a mischievous act and something genuinely dangerous. You start to question everyone. The OCR mentioned 'framing a friend' and 'murder,' and honestly, that’s not an exaggeration for the kind of escalation you see here. One minute it's a foolish dare, the next, someone's future is on the line, or worse. The way the characters in 'The Dare' grapple with their secret, and how it slowly eats away at their friendships, is so gripping. It truly makes you think about how easily trust can shatter when fear and self-preservation kick in. It’s that feeling of 'you can't trust anyone' that makes these thrillers so addictive. You're constantly trying to piece together who knows what, who's lying, and who's truly pulling the strings. The 'friends show true colors' theme is incredibly strong in this book because when the pressure builds, people reveal their true selves, and it's not always pretty. The beauty of a 'fast-paced' narrative like this is that you hardly have time to breathe between revelations. Just when you think you've figured it out, another twist hits you, making you question everything you thought you knew. For anyone who loves a good psychological thriller where a seemingly simple premise like 'senior pranks' explodes into a complex web of secrets, this book is a must. It's a fantastic exploration of how one reckless decision can unravel an entire group of lives, proving that sometimes, the biggest monsters aren't hiding in the dark, but right beside you. If you're looking for a read that will keep you guessing and questioning human nature, dive into 'The Dare.' You won't be disappointed by the ride.
