Ok so honestly I’m not the biggest fan of this author. When I first got this book I was dreading it because (unpopular opinion) I hated one true loves and daisy and the six. I just felt like they dragged on and truly bored me. Then when I pulled this book to read, I literally said it’s probably going to be a bore, but boy oh boy was I wrong. This story hit home for me. Growing up with a single mom, and an absentee father I can relate. Luckily my mom met her Prince Charming, my step dad, but not everyone is so fortunate. This story starts with a woman falling in love with a man that wants nothing more than to be a musician. They marry and have kids and he sets off to make his career. He goes big and ends up letting fame get to him, constantly cheating on his wife. He stops coming home to see his kids and divorced his wife. Then he randomly comes back to her when he feels like it, promising to change and be better. Only to leave her again with no sign of return. He fully messes up this woman’s life. She turns to alcohol which becomes her biggest downfall. Luckily the siblings have each other and know no matter what as long as they have each other and surf, they will be okay.
I loved this book but the dad thinking he can just come back into the children’s life after never being a father pissed me off to no extend.
A must read I’m glad I finally picked it up!!
