A 33-year-old wife and true-crime vlogger suspects that her father is a serial killer after her mother, aunt and sister are all killed in the span of one year in the same way — their heads are gruesomely chopped off with an axe. The same axe she remembers her father having when she was a kid.
She has fractured memories of her tumultuous childhood and has trouble discerning what's reality and what's fiction. She's not sure what to believe as he's a successful, charismatic businessman in the present but she knows he was a force of terror and violence all those years ago. She's seen the dark urges and impulses he possesses inside of him. That's something she'll never forget.
But not everything is as it seems...other suspects with mysterious pasts are in play as well. Venus has her work cut out for her as she strives to catch the mysterious serial killer.
She needs to find the truth no matter how dangerous and no matter the cost...because she knows she's next.
I'm officially a @spencergauthor STAN! These books are quick reads but jam packed with suspense. I was second guessing from the start whose father was the serial killer! I love to see the author's growth in writing when reading each of their books.
I was truly convinced Venus was insane which made me overthink everything because I didn't trust her. She was a captivating character that I was totally consumed by. There are some heart breaking deaths in this book but honestly that's what makes a good novel. The reason it didn’t get five stars was the ending I wish there was some happiness but it was so so tragic.
