Love/Hate: Wearing Heels To Work 👠

Am I the only person that struggles to wear heels?? I got these shoes on Amazon and they’re SO cute and I get so many compliments when I wear them but they squeeze my toes to much that I end up switching to my slippers while I’m in the office and it throws the whole outfit off. These only have a three inch heel, but I guess it’s too much for me. Where are the cute kitten heels that are reasonably priced?? 🥺

... Read moreOkay, so I totally get the struggle! Those 'sexy heels' look amazing in the mirror selfie, especially with a cute black skirt and light cardigan for work, but the reality? Ouch! I've been there, admiring my black studded heels in the locker room, only to be kicking them off under my desk by lunchtime. It's a real love-hate relationship, right? I've spent way too much time trying to figure out how to make those gorgeous but painful heels work for a full day, and I've picked up a few tips that might help you too. First off, the fit is everything. I learned the hard way that just because a shoe is my size doesn't mean it's the right size for a heel. My toes, like yours, used to get squished, especially in pointed styles. Now, I always try to shop in the evening when my feet are a little swollen, and I walk around the store a lot. If they feel tight, they're only going to get worse. I also look for brands that offer wider widths – it's a game-changer if you can find them! Insoles are another lifesaver. Gel cushions for the ball of your foot can absorb a lot of the impact, and some even have arch support. They don't magically make a terrible shoe comfortable, but they can definitely extend your wear time. I've also tried those silicone toe separators, especially for open-toed heels, and they help prevent rubbing. Breaking in new heels is also crucial. Don't save them for a big presentation day! Wear them around the house for short periods, maybe with thick socks, to help stretch them out. There are also shoe stretchers you can buy, or even professional shoe repair shops that can stretch them for you. But let's be real, sometimes a heel is just too high or too narrow for practical everyday wear. That's where I started exploring alternatives that still give that polished, 'sexy' vibe without the agony. Kitten heels, like you mentioned, are fantastic! They give you a little lift without the steep angle, and they're usually much more comfortable for all-day wear. I've found some really chic pairs on ASOS and Zara that look expensive but aren't. Block heels are another go-to for me. They offer so much more stability than stilettos, and a chunky block heel can look incredibly stylish with a work outfit. Even a low block heel can elevate your look. And don't forget about pointed-toe flats or loafers! A well-made pair in leather or a fun print can be just as sophisticated as heels. I recently found a pair of pointed-toe flats with a subtle stud detail (reminding me of those black studded heels from my selfie!) that look amazing with my black skirt and are so comfy. Ultimately, it's about finding what works for *you*. You shouldn't have to suffer for fashion, especially at work. We deserve to feel confident and comfortable from our mirror selfie in the morning to the end of our day!
