this is the only romance book i have been dying to read as an aroace person, and it definitely didn’t disappoint me. i read this after i finished binding 13 and i gotta say, these books are similar in the sense of mmc is so heartset on their sport and their horniness for the mfc they just met, only this book is cut down a whole other book and a few 600 pages. and it’s done completely well.
i loved each of the main characters in this book besides winter and willa, but they’ll grow on me, i’m sure of it. the only reason why i rated it a bit low is because it also joked about downgrading people who don’t have seggs twice (which, as an aroace person, i get invalidated and sexualized everyday because of jokes like that) so that never flies with me, the third act ‘break up’ (only this time it wasn’t about something stupid. still not a fan of it though), and just the thoughts of the mmc and about wanting to rip the mfc’s clothes off and [ahem] all the time was getting to me near the end. however, that didn’t last long because the eND?? didn’t see it coming, and i can always predict romance books.
overall, i’m so excited to continue reading the series along with this author’s other series! and i’m such a huge fan of the book covers, ugh they have my heart 💕
... Read moreOkay, so let's talk about something that totally drew me into Elsie Silver's books, even before I started reading: the stunning book covers! Seriously, ugh, they have my heart. For 'Flawless,' the cover instantly caught my eye – that beautiful rose and rope design? It’s not just pretty; it hints at the rugged rodeo world while still having that touch of romance. The way the rose contrasts with the sturdy rope feels so symbolic of Willow and Rhett's dynamic, doesn't it? It's a perfect blend of delicate beauty and raw strength, which, for me, really sets the tone for the story inside.
I've noticed a consistent aesthetic across Elsie Silver's covers for this series, and it's brilliant. They often incorporate elements that subtly reflect the characters or settings without giving away too much, making you curious to pick them up. It's like they're saying, 'Hey, there’s a captivating story here, and it looks just as good on your shelf!' As someone who loves collecting physical books, a beautiful cover is definitely a huge plus, and these definitely deliver on that front. The overall design language makes them instantly recognizable and cohesive as a series, which is a smart move for any author.
Beyond the visual appeal, I also wanted to share a little practical tip for anyone diving into a new book like 'Flawless' or any series, especially if you're planning to review it or just want to keep track of your thoughts. You know how important it is to highlight or make notes, right? I've found a book tabbing system to be an absolute game-changer. Just like the image shows, using different colored tabs for different emotions or reactions – like 'cute!! happy,' 'angry,' 'sad,' or even '18+' for those spicy moments – really helps you remember specific scenes and feelings.
I personally use a system where I assign colors to common themes or feelings, so when I go back to write my review, all my thoughts are neatly organized. For instance, a yellow tab might be for 'funny moments,' a pink one for 'heart-fluttering romance,' and a blue one for 'plot twists' or 'questions I have.' It makes revisiting the book so much easier, especially when you want to pinpoint why you rated it a certain way or discuss specific parts with friends. The image showed 'huh? Iffy' and 'anything else' tabs, which honestly, I might borrow! It’s super helpful for those parts that make you pause and think, or for miscellaneous notes that don't fit into a specific category.
This way, when you’re deep into a book like 'Flawless' and a particular scene really moves you, or a character says something profound (or frustrating!), you can quickly mark it. It transforms reading from a passive activity into an interactive experience, and it's incredibly useful for crafting a detailed, honest review. Plus, seeing all those colorful tabs sticking out makes your book look well-loved and thoroughly explored, which is a vibe in itself! So next time you pick up an Elsie Silver novel, or any book you're excited about, give tabbing a try. It might just enhance your reading journey as much as it has mine!
