The Goal
I have so many reasons why I should be in @TYLER PERRY studios. First let me reintroduce myself. My name is A.Powell. I’ve written books that DONT give the typical cliche storylines unlike others. I truly stand out because of the way I LOVE twisting my cliff hangers. You’ll NEVER know exactly how my books end. My books will
ALWAYS leave you WONDERING. GUESSING. SPECULATING. Whats next. 👀🤨
I’ve always been intrigued with writing short stories from a little girl. I’ve read books like Junie B; Jones ( & the B stands for ….) yall know the rest along with my favorite favorite book of all time, GOOSEBUMPS! I LOVE that book series so much i studied R.L stine’s writing style. I remember when I did a draft on a dentist and tried to attempt to make my book as scary as his and it was truly and epic fail. I low-key gave up on writing scary books because I wasn’t there yet (I still feel like I’m not but whatever). I have ALOT of research and a lot of homework to do before I can even reach his level. His books left me scared asf ! 😂 I loved his books though! R.L stine’s writing style taught me something’s. Don’t add too much detail when writing a spooky book. Give VIVID DETAILS. Leave a juicy cliff hanger so it’ll leave a cliff hanger. I’ll be honest, I write cliff hangers in ALL OF MY BOOKS just about except my childrens books! 😂
My writing style is truly different but I’ve been truly inspired. I love the way Barbara park wrote a chapter book for the children to engage in. I love junie B; jones books. Those will definitely be in my dream house! I love me a good junie b jones book. Every book that same out, I read. Goosebumps and Junie B; Jones were my TOP 2 favorite ALL TIME books. I just feel like I’ve been inspired so much by R.L stine with his writing style. It’s truly unique, it’s amazing and it shows how in depth his mind goes when it comes to writing.
As a writer, as an author, your mind does tap into a different kind of realm. When I wrote Deception,Lies, and Betrayal…. My mind was in the form of feeling betrayed by those close to me. I was told a story by a loved one about how they had friends and the friends abandoned them and they were alone to fight by themselves. Thats also where DLB stemmed from and how it came about. I wanted to write a one and done book but knowing me and my cliff hangers, I couldn’t allow that to happen- another book was bound to be born. Repent and then PTSD .
Repent came from sins. That was my instant thought. Repent was also from playing chess not checkers. It was more so as life has a way of circling back and giving you a taste of your own medicine. 💊 Elliot had betrayed his brother whom he grew up with and eventually had to get that energy back but in a different way~ a deadly one. Right after Repent, ptsd came about. I thought about PTSD as the title because, it’s relatable. Everyone gets it from family, friends, significant others, etc. it all stems from somewhere right? I wrote ptsd because I wanted to further explain Elliot and his past. His past was very traumatic . He experienced a first love as well but had messed things up due to his poor choices and his lack of self control while on the streets. Elliot gets locked up and runs into his father, Errol. The interaction isnt too drawn out because Elliot does make a plan to escape. Yet the guard Lola whom he’s romantically involved with, is aware about his escape and says nothing. He finds out a lot once he’s back on the streets. It isn’t long until his brother has been harmed. Now he’s looking at possible suspects and it goes to his friend, Trey from hoe childhood. He goes after him. Long story short, trey doesn’t say anything~ he hasn’t confirmed or denied.
My plot twist for my books happen quite often. I love leaving my readers edging to read more. To hear more & to be filled with such emotions thst have me like “when is A.Powell going to drop a WHOLE BOOK SERIES WITHIN A DAY”? Btw thats clearly not possible but okay. You get my drift.
I have written for TWO DIRECTORS for a film project. I think it’s so much fun and easy for me to do. I learn quickly and I understand the urgency that is needed for such storyline. FYI if I hypothetically did an episode for @TYLER PERRY , I’d expect the audience to expect the unexpected.
You know, there's a certain magic in seeing that iconic 'WELCOME TO TYLER PERRY STUDIOS' sign. For so many of us in the writing and film world, it’s not just an entrance to a physical space; it’s a gateway to dreams, a symbol of what’s possible when talent meets opportunity. Every time I see a picture or a clip featuring those gates, my heart does a little flutter. It’s more than just a studio; it’s a beacon for storytellers, especially for those of us who grew up seeing ourselves less represented in mainstream media. My journey as a writer, filled with unique cliffhangers and unexpected twists, has always been driven by a desire to create stories that resonate deeply and leave a lasting impression. I mentioned my inspirations, from the playful curiosity of Junie B. Jones to the chilling genius of R.L. Stine. These authors taught me the power of narrative to captivate, to thrill, and to make readers *feel*. And that’s exactly what I aim for in my own books, like 'Deception, Lies, and Betrayal' or 'PTSD,' where I explore complex emotions and shocking plot developments. Imagine bringing that kind of storytelling – my signature style of leaving you 'WONDERING. GUESSING. SPECULATING.' – to a platform like Tyler Perry Studios. For me, walking through that 'WELCOME TO TYLER PERRY STUDIOS' entrance wouldn't just be a personal achievement; it would be a testament to every late night spent writing, every rejection faced, and every moment of self-doubt overcome. It’s about being part of a legacy that uplifts and empowers diverse voices. I envision my narratives, with their raw emotion and unpredictable turns, finding a home there, potentially transforming into screenplays that keep audiences on the edge of their seats, just like my readers. I've already had the incredible experience of writing for two directors on a film project, and that gave me a taste of the collaborative magic that happens behind the scenes. The urgency, the creativity, the shared vision – it’s exhilarating. I learn quickly, and I’m passionate about crafting narratives that deliver impact. Hypothetically, if I were to contribute to an episode or a series produced at those studios, I’d promise one thing: expect the unexpected. I thrive on plot twists that challenge perceptions and leave viewers breathless, eager for the next installment. My goal isn’t just to be at Tyler Perry Studios; it's to contribute, to add my unique voice to the incredible tapestry of stories being told there. It's about showing that my distinct approach to storytelling, honed over years and inspired by my own life experiences, can thrive in that dynamic environment. The 'WELCOME TO TYLER PERRY STUDIOS' sign represents not just an entrance, but an invitation to a world where stories come alive, and I’m ready to answer that call. It’s what keeps me writing, keeps me dreaming, and keeps me pushing limits every single day.
