“How are you?” is silly
We treat “how are you?” like common courtesy, but let’s be real if you don’t actually care, why even ask? It’s just a filler. My partner does this at restaurants or stores, and either doesn’t wait for the answer or just brushes past the automatic “good and you?”
From the other side, if I’m working, I know you’re only asking because you think you’re supposed to. Why waste time on fake niceties? Small talk like this is pointless it doesn’t connect anyone, it just checks a box.
Am I the only one who thinks we should drop it, or do you actually find it polite?
