Supernatural fell off 📺
When I was younger, Supernatural felt like the best show ever. Rewatching now? I realized after season 5 it just went downhill. Lazy writing, plot holes everywhere, bringing characters back just to kill them again… even Dean killing Death didn’t make sense.
I’ll always be emotionally tied to it, but objectively? It’s not worth watching past season 6.
Do you agree, or are you still a die-hard fan?
Speaking of Supernatural, when I look back at the early seasons, especially Season 1, Sam Winchester truly stands out as a character I deeply connected with. It's funny because when I first started watching, I was immediately drawn into the premise of these two brothers fighting evil, as the IMDb synopsis often highlights. But for me, Sam's journey in that first season was incredibly compelling. He wasn't just a hunter; he was trying to escape that life, building a future at Stanford, completely removed from the supernatural world. We saw his struggle to reconcile with his past, his strained relationship with his father, and the devastating loss of Jessica. This gave him such a grounded, relatable motivation for returning to the hunt – not just for revenge, but to find answers and protect others from suffering his fate. I remember thinking, 'This isn't just a monster-of-the-week show; it's about family and personal sacrifice.' Sam's initial reluctance and moral compass in Season 1 were so refreshing. He questioned everything, often being the voice of reason against Dean's more impulsive nature. Episodes like 'Faith,' where he grapples with Dean's potential death, or 'Nightmare,' delving into his psychic abilities, showcased his vulnerability and inner turmoil. He was constantly battling his destiny, fearing he might turn into something monstrous, which added incredible depth to his character right from the start. This early portrayal of Sam as the empathetic, often angsty academic reluctantly thrown into a dangerous world resonated so much with audiences, setting him apart from typical action heroes. His dedication to finding their father, John, and uncovering the truth behind their mother's death was the driving force of the entire season. He wasn't yet burdened by the heavier lore or the complex celestial politics that would come much later. It was raw, emotional, and focused on the core family drama. The bond between Sam and Dean in Season 1 felt incredibly authentic and unbreakable, establishing the foundation for everything that followed. Their banter, their unspoken understanding, and their fierce loyalty to each other were what made the TV series truly special. The show's title reflects these main characters, and it really shines through their dynamic here. For many fans, including myself, Sam and Dean in those early years, especially Season 1, represented the heart and soul of Supernatural. His character arc in that first season, from reluctant scholar to determined hunter, was perfectly paced and incredibly engaging. He set the standard for what a protagonist in a show about fighting demons could be – intelligent, compassionate, and deeply conflicted. It's why, even when I reflect on the series' later trajectory and some of the criticisms about its quality, I always return to the magic and purity of Sam Winchester's beginnings. Those early episodes defined him, and for me, they were absolutely peak Supernatural.

no it's not, you hater
