Trying something different

Hey everyone! I wanted to share something a little different I’ve been trying in my digital art journey. You know how sometimes you see an iconic accessory, like a beautiful Chanel band, and you just get inspired? Well, that’s exactly what happened to me! I decided to challenge myself and try drawing one from scratch. It felt a bit daunting at first, tackling something with such recognizable branding and intricate details, but embracing that vulnerability in my art has really pushed me to grow. Getting started with a piece like this means breaking it down. For a Chanel band, I first focused on the basic shape – whether it’s a watch strap, a hair tie, or a bracelet. I typically start with a rough sketch layer in my favorite digital art app, just to get the proportions right. It’s all about capturing that elegant curve or precise line that makes it instantly recognizable. Don't worry about perfection at this stage; it's just about getting the blueprint down. Once the basic outline was solid, I moved on to adding the details. This is where the magic really happens! Think about the iconic quilting, the interlocking C's logo, or any unique clasps. For the logo, I spent a bit of time making sure it was crisp and correctly positioned. Then came the coloring. This is where a tool like ColorDrop becomes an absolute lifesaver! If you're using an app like Procreate, you can simply drag your color from the palette onto your closed shape, and it fills it in perfectly. It saves so much time compared to manually coloring, allowing me to Continue filling smaller, intricate areas with ease. Experimenting with textures was another fun part. To give the band a more realistic or stylized look, I played around with different brushes. Sometimes, I even used a Threshold adjustment – for example, pushing it to Threshold 62% – to create a really cool, almost graphic novel-like effect for shadows or to simplify the color palette. It’s amazing how a simple adjustment can completely change the mood of your artwork. It’s all about experimenting and seeing what feels right for your piece. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to not be afraid of making mistakes. Every 'oops' moment is just an opportunity to learn something new. Finishing this Chanel band drawing felt like a huge accomplishment, and it truly enhanced my skills.
