Wearing my ex’s gift

So here’s the thing — my ex gave me a really nice watch a few years ago. It’s simple, classy, and honestly just goes with everything I wear. I’ve had it for so long that I kind of forgot it was even a “gift from my ex.”

Recently, my current boyfriend noticed it and asked where it came from. I told him the truth — that it was from my ex — and now he’s upset, saying it’s “disrespectful” and I should stop wearing it. I get where he’s coming from, but it’s not like I wear it for sentimental reasons. It’s just… a nice watch.

Now he keeps bringing it up every time I wear it, and it’s starting to annoy me. I feel like throwing it away would be pointless when it’s still perfectly fine.

Would you stop wearing something just because your ex gave it to you? Or is my boyfriend overreacting?
