Took a Needed Break.

Life got hectic, and health got bad, so I'm taking a brief break from my painting projects and revisiting the book I've been writing. It started as a loose concept, and thanks to my D&D friends, I'm actually being able to live out some of the most pivotal moments in my book to see how my characters would actually react.

went from 20 pages to 52 pages in a matter of two weeks, thanks to them!!

I dont know if I'll ever publish it formally, but I've been toying with the idea of some form of publishing to see how people would respond to my writing style. If I do, I'll start with snippets on here paired with showing off some painting when I have some to show. If the snippets build a big enough fan base here, then I'll look into actually posting the book.

Anyone else in the same boat? If so what are some tips you're willing to share? Is it worth the time to keep writing for you? How do you juggle writing and parenting/life?

Happy crafting everyone!

... Read moreBalancing creative projects with life's demands, like health challenges and parenting, is something many artists and writers face. Taking a break from painting to focus on writing is a smart way to manage energy and channel creativity differently. Using role-playing games like D&D with friends as a tool to develop and test your book's characters is a unique and interactive approach that can greatly enhance story authenticity. Sharing snippets on social platforms can help build a community and gauge reader interest before formal publishing. For anyone juggling writing with parenting or other responsibilities, creating small, consistent writing habits can make a big difference. Setting realistic goals, such as adding a few pages weekly, helps maintain momentum without overwhelming. Also, integrating your creative circle—like friends who support your D&D scenarios or critique your work—adds motivation and accountability. Publishing doesn’t have to mean jumping straight into a traditional or full book release; starting with serialized publishing or blog-style posts paired with other creative content, such as painting or art, can engage audiences across multiple interests. This approach can attract followers who appreciate both your writing and visual art, building a loyal fan base over time. Don't underestimate the power of community hashtags like #momswhowrite or #writersoflemon8 to connect with like-minded creators who share tips on balancing life and writing. Many find that these groups offer valuable advice on time management, mental health, and creative inspiration. Ultimately, taking breaks when needed, embracing flexible writing schedules, and seeking support from friends and online communities can transform creative setbacks into opportunities for growth and renewed passion.
