My Favorite Pose Prompts: Couples Edition

These poses are some of my favorites to keep in my back pocket for any couple, no matter if it’s an engagement shoot or just for fun. Obviously, if they’re not engaged, you wouldn’t do something like the ring shot, but you can still have them do some cuddles

- 😁Happy Teeth: this one is one of my favorites. It always makes my couples extremely confused when I tell them the prompt at first. But then once I show them the photos, they understand and fall in love with the idea.

- 🛫Airplane Hugs: I’ve seen a lot of other couples do this prompt and decided to add it tomy Lookbook. It’s very cute and childlike, which, for me helps heal my inner child seeing the couple so happy.

- 🚶🏻‍♂️Take A Walk: now I personally really enjoy being the couples paparazzi for the day, so this prompt lets the two lovebirds explore the area where you are taking your photos and gives you the opportunity to get some cute and creative shots that don’t involve them looking at the camera. Just have them look at each other and the sites around them

- 💍 Admire The Ring: obviously, as a newly engaged couple, you want to give them a chance to admire the ring and also give yourself the chance to take some really pretty pictures in a unique setting. These angles also give you the opportunity to create some really unique phone wallpapers for your couple, depending on the perspective you shoot in.

- 💋 Covered In Kisses: this is another one that I have seen other photographers do plenty of times. This gives your couple a chance to be silly and goofy and also gives you a chance to get some really cool blurred motion shots if that is the aesthetic that your couple is going for. Plus, it always makes me cackle to see the creative choices that the couple makes, particularly this couple.

Let me know if you try any of these poses!

... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so excited you're looking for ways to make your couple photos truly unforgettable. Beyond the prompts I've already shared, I've picked up a few more tips and tricks over the years that help couples feel completely at ease and result in those dreamy, authentic shots we all love. First off, let's talk about getting comfortable. I always tell my couples that the best photos come from genuine interactions. One of my favorite add-on prompts is what I call “The Secret Whisper.” Instead of just posing, I ask one person to whisper their favorite silly memory about their partner into their ear. This immediately sparks natural smiles, often a little blush, and sometimes even a full-blown laugh! It's a fantastic way to get that 'couple encouraging each other smiling' vibe, creating truly sweet love smile couple moments without a forced pose. You’ll be amazed at the tender, romantic moment it creates. Another simple yet powerful pose, especially if you're looking for dynamic shots, is the “Look Back & Connect.” While on a walk, just like our 'Take A Walk' prompt, I'll have one partner glance back over their shoulder at the other, who is often a step or two behind. This creates a beautiful sense of longing or playfulness and makes for a great 'looking around pose' that feels natural. The OCR mention of a couple 'walking hand-in-hand' perfectly sets the scene for this kind of movement-based shot. And for those intimate details, don't forget about hands! Many couples ask about ways to incorporate their hands, especially if there's an engagement ring involved. Beyond the 'Admire The Ring' prompt, I love to capture a simple “Storytelling Hand Hold.” This involves having the couple hold hands naturally, perhaps while walking, or even while one is playfully resting their hand on the other's arm. I often zoom in to get a close-up, highlighting the texture of their skin, perhaps a bracelet, and of course, that beautiful engagement ring. It’s a subtle way to get a 'couple hand pic prompt' that tells a story of connection without being overly posed. The 'A close-up shot of a hand with dark red nails wearing a gold engagement ring' from the OCR is exactly the kind of detail shot that can come from this. Finally, for those who love a bit more coziness, try a “Cozy Embrace from Behind.” This is super simple: one partner gently wraps their arms around the other from behind, perhaps resting their chin on their shoulder or just nuzzling in. It’s incredibly sweet and always makes for a comfortable, loving image, hitting that 'couple hug from behind pose' perfectly. It's a playful embrace that shows deep affection. Remember, the goal is to have fun and let your personalities shine through. These prompts are just starting points. Feel free to adapt them, add your own quirks, and enjoy the process of creating beautiful memories together! The best photos are always the ones where you're genuinely yourselves. Happy shooting!
