After my incredible puppy window shopping experience, especially falling for that adorable French Bulldog, I can't stop thinking about what it would be like to actually bring a puppy home! If I were to prepare for a new furry family member, especially a small breed like the Frenchies I saw, here's what I'd definitely consider to make their space cozy and safe. A crate provides a den-like feel, which can be really comforting for a puppy and helps with potty training. I’d pick one that’s just big enough for them to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably. For bedding, I’d ditch the shredded paper and opt for a soft, washable blanket or a specific dog bed that’s easy to clean – puppies can be messy! For the larger 'puppy area,' a playpen is a lifesaver, especially if you can't supervise them 24/7. It gives them more room to move around than a crate but keeps them out of trouble. I'd set it up in a central part of the house, like the living room, so they still feel connected to the family. Inside the playpen, I'd make sure there are plenty of stimulating toys to chew on and play with. This is so important for their development and to prevent boredom. Think squeaky toys, durable chew toys, and puzzle feeders. Then there's the practical stuff. Food and water bowls are a must. Those little puppy teeth can get into everything! From what I saw with the puppies looking so curious in their enclosures, I know they'd be exploring every nook and cranny. Even if they initially look picture-perfect like the little fluffy puppies I saw, regular grooming is vital for their health and hygiene. It's a lot to think about, but so worth it for those adorable puppy cuddles!
