My 1st Hobonichi Weeks
This is the state of my first Hobonichi Weeks, 10 months into 2025! It’s bursting at the seams and the spine is about to give out any day now. This is the first time IN MY LIFE I’ve made it this far with a planner. I have romanticized the perfect planner life time and time again much to my own disappointment and laziness. What I discovered this time around is perhaps I’m not actually lazy, rather just overwhelmed by the sheer amount of space most planners require be filled out? I dunno. What I do know is that the size of the Weeks is perfect for my lifestyle, my time commitment, my attention span (very crucial to success) and my level of activity and interests I’m willing to write about. The biggest rule I set for myself this year was that there are no rules. I wasn’t gonna stress myself out to make sure everything matched or needing to write everyday, was gonna be fine with my handwriting changing from day to day, switching pens and colors at my leisure, and ultimately use this year as a year of discovery when it came to building the perfect planner world for myself. It’s turned somewhat into a planner/junk journal and I love it! Ephemera, anyone? The whimsy makes the memories all the better! Less contrived! More colorful and interesting, and certainly something I’ll find joy looking thru five years from now. I’m currently building my 2026 planner haul and excited to share it soon!
