Happy holidays!
Okay, so everyone's been asking me about my go-to holiday drink, and honestly, it has to be Coquito! It's such a staple in my family during the festive season, and I promise you, it's way easier to make than you think. This particular recipe is inspired by the classic Goya way, which means you get that authentic taste with ingredients you can easily find. My friends always rave about it, and it never lasts long at parties! First off, let's talk ingredients. You'll definitely need a few key Goya products to get that rich, creamy texture. Grab one can of Goya Evaporated Milk, one can of Goya Coconut Milk (I sometimes use Goya Reduced Fat Coconut Milk if I'm trying to lighten it up a bit, and it still tastes amazing!), and one can of Goya Cream of Coconut – this is crucial for that signature sweetness and body. Don't forget a can of sweetened condensed milk, about a cup and a half of white rum (or more, no judgment here!), a teaspoon of vanilla extract, and half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Some people like to add a pinch of nutmeg too, but I usually stick to cinnamon for a simpler flavor profile. Now for the fun part: making it! It's literally just a blend-and-chill situation. Get out your blender. Pour in the evaporated milk, coconut milk, cream of coconut, and sweetened condensed milk. Add your rum, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Blend everything on high until it's completely smooth and well combined. You want it to be nice and frothy. Once blended, taste it! This is where the 'tweak it to your liking' magic happens. Want it sweeter? Add a little more sweetened condensed milk. Love rum? Go ahead and add another splash or two! I've even experimented with a dash of almond extract for a different twist. After you're happy with the flavor, pour your Coquito into glass bottles or a pitcher. The key here is to chill it thoroughly. Pop it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but overnight is even better. The flavors really meld and deepen when it's cold. When you're ready to serve, give it a good shake (it tends to separate slightly, which is totally normal) and pour it into small glasses. A cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top makes it look extra festive. This Coquito recipe is truly a holiday winner. It's so smooth, creamy, and has just the right kick. Plus, making it at home is so much more satisfying than buying it pre-made. Give it a try this holiday season, and let me know how you customize yours!
