They make anime bookends?! 😱

Okay, fellow anime enthusiasts! My bookshelf was looking a bit sad and uninspired, and as a huge Naruto fan, I knew I needed something epic to hold up my manga collection. That's when I thought, 'Why not make my own custom Naruto & Sasuke bookends?' I've been dabbling in 3D printing, and this felt like the perfect personal project. The first step was all about design. I wanted to capture the essence of both Sasuke and Naruto in a 'painted-like' style. I spent quite a bit of time creating unique imagery for each character. For Sasuke, I opted for a powerful combination of black and purple, highlighting his intense aura. For Naruto, it was all about his vibrant energy, so black and orange were a must. If you're into creating multi-layered, colored prints with depth, tools like Hueforge, mentioned in the OCR, can be incredibly helpful for achieving that stunning visual effect where the colors truly pop! Once my designs were finalized, it was time to bring them to life with my 3D printer. I made sure to print the character panels to be quite 'thick' and sturdy, as I wanted them to last. The print settings are crucial here – for example, my original settings mentioned a .2 nozzle and a .08 layer height, which helps get those fine details and a smooth finish. Printing with proper 'walls' ensures strength, especially for functional items like bookends. Now for the assembly, which is where it all comes together! I 3D printed robust L-brackets separately. These are the unsung heroes, providing the structural integrity needed for actual bookends. To attach the Sasuke and Naruto panels to these L-brackets, I used CA glue, which is seriously 'super glue on steroids'! To make sure the bond was instant and unbreakable, I also applied an activator. This made the glue set almost 'instantly,' which was fantastic for securing the panels perfectly. No waiting around! The final touch, and one that makes a huge difference, was adding small rubber pads to the bottom of the L-brackets. Without these, my awesome new bookends would 'slide around' all over the place. With the rubber, they grip the shelf 'super well' and 'hold up with ease,' keeping even my heaviest art books perfectly in place. It's incredibly satisfying to 'display' my favorite series with these personalized, custom-made bookends. It truly makes my collection feel even more special.
