Just make it phone holder
Makers make it on their own
I've always been a fan of keeping my space tidy, and one of my biggest pet peeves was always having my phone lying around on surfaces, taking up valuable space or getting lost under paperwork. That's why I decided to tackle a simple yet incredibly useful DIY project: a wall mount phone holder! I wanted something practical, easy to make, and that would look good in my home office or by my bedside. This project was a game-changer for me, and I'm so excited to share my experience and how you can make one too! First off, why a wall mount? For me, it was all about decluttering. My desk often gets crowded, and having a dedicated spot on the wall means my phone is always accessible, charging neatly, and not hogging any surface area. Plus, it's safer for my phone, as it's less likely to get knocked over or have liquids spilled on it. When I started planning, I considered various materials. I wanted something sturdy but also easy to work with. I thought about using wood, but then I remembered I had some spare acrylic sheets from a previous craft project. Acrylic is great because it's lightweight, can be cut relatively easily, and looks quite sleek. Other good options could be strong cardboard, a piece of thin plywood, or even repurposing a small plastic container. Here’s what I gathered for my project: A piece of acrylic sheet (about 6x4 inches, depending on your phone size) A ruler and a marker A utility knife or Dremel tool (if using acrylic/plastic; for cardboard, sturdy scissors) Strong adhesive (like E6000 or super glue, suitable for your material) Sandpaper (fine-grit, to smooth edges if needed) Command strips or small screws with wall anchors (for mounting) The process was surprisingly straightforward. I started by measuring my phone (with its case on!) to make sure the holder would be a perfect fit. I decided on a simple 'L' shape design – a flat back panel and a small lip at the bottom to hold the phone. I marked out the dimensions on my acrylic sheet, making sure to leave a little extra room for charging cables. Next, I carefully cut the pieces using my utility knife. This step requires patience and safety, so always cut away from your body and use a cutting mat. If you’re using wood or thick plastic, a small saw or Dremel might be more appropriate. Once cut, I gently sanded the edges to make them smooth and remove any sharp points. This is important for both aesthetics and safety. Assembling was the fun part. I applied a generous amount of strong adhesive along the bottom edge of the back panel and then carefully attached the lip piece at a 90-degree angle. I held it firmly in place for a few minutes and then let it cure completely for several hours, as per the adhesive instructions. This is crucial for durability – you don't want your phone taking a tumble! Finally, mounting it to the wall! I opted for heavy-duty Command strips because I didn't want to drill holes. They are fantastic for renters or anyone who likes flexibility. If you prefer a more permanent solution, small screws with wall anchors work great. I chose a spot near an outlet, so charging is convenient, and made sure it was at a comfortable height. I cleaned the wall surface thoroughly, applied the Command strips to the back of my newly made holder, pressed it firmly against the wall, and held it for 30 seconds. I stepped back, and there it was – my very own DIY wall mount phone holder! It looks clean, keeps my phone secure, and frees up so much space. It was such a rewarding project, proving that you don't need fancy tools or materials to create something genuinely useful. I encourage everyone to give it a try. It’s a small change that makes a big difference in daily convenience. Happy crafting!
