This is a scam account

2024/5/10 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! I just had to share something crucial that I've noticed popping up everywhere on social media lately, and it's a real danger. I'm talking about those fake accounts and profiles trying to lure you in with 'free makeup,' gift cards, or even cash. I’ve seen so many instances where people almost fall for it, and I want to help you avoid the same trap! This is a serious fake social media account warning, and I hope my experience can be helpful. It usually starts with an account offering something too good to be true – like 'free makeup' or a '$100 gift card' just for taking a survey. I've seen images with 'claim' buttons that look super legitimate, but they’re not. They might display tons of gorgeous lip stains, blushes, and eyeliners, all labeled 'FREE.' But trust me, there’s always a catch. I even saw one where they asked 'About how many times do you go shopping per week?' – trying to gather data under the guise of an offer. The screen often displays offers for free makeup, including gift cards and cash, but it's a mirage. One specific scam that keeps surfacing, and you might have seen queries about it, involves something called 'Joi Alexandri Telegram.' These often push you to 'message me now' or 'check my store on bio' links, promising exclusive access to these 'freebies.' Don't click! These links are usually designed to steal your information, install malware, or lead you to phishing sites. I've seen comments sections filled with people asking about free gifts without a credit card, and the scammer just redirects them to their profile link – which is exactly what you should avoid. A screen I saw explicitly warned: 'THIS IS A SCAM WITH A FAKE PROFILE DON'T FALL FOR IT.' So, how can you tell if an account is a fake profile? From my experience, here are some red flags to look out for: Too Good To Be True Offers: If it sounds amazing (like free high-end makeup or huge cash prizes for no effort), it probably is. Genuine giveaways from reputable brands are usually well-advertised on their official channels and don't require suspicious steps. Urgent Calls to Action: Phrases like 'message me now' or 'check my bio for link' without much context or a clear brand presence are major red flags. They want you to act fast before you think. Requests for Personal Info/Credit Card: Genuine giveaways rarely ask for your credit card details or extensive personal information just to 'claim' a free item. Be extremely wary if they ask for banking details or social security numbers. Generic or Stolen Content: Look at their other posts. Are they just reposting generic images? Do they have a consistent brand voice? Often, they'll show 'various makeup products arranged on a reflective surface' but have no real content of their own. A profile page promoting 'FREE makeup' with a link and generic video thumbnails is suspicious. Low Engagement/New Account: Many fake profiles are relatively new with few genuine followers or comments. Check their follower count and engagement – does it seem authentic? Suspicious Links: Always hover over a link before clicking (if on desktop) or be very wary on mobile. If it doesn't look like a reputable domain or leads to an unexpected site, avoid it. Poor Grammar/Spelling: While not always a definitive sign, frequent errors can be a red flag that the account isn't professional or legitimate. If you spot a fake social media account or profile, the best thing you can do is report it to the platform. Don't engage with them, don't click their links, and definitely don't share any personal information. By reporting, you're helping to protect others from falling victim to these scams. Let's all stay vigilant and make our online spaces safer!

I met a lady at Target. She seemed really confused when looking at the gift card section. Just when I wanted to ask if she needed help, she came to ask me first. She said that she needs 5 Apple gift cards all for $200. I was first shocked by the number but immediately thought about the potential of
