Hey everyone! If you’ve just tried making these amazing S'mores Brownies, you already know they're a total game-changer. But I wanted to share a few extra tips and tricks I've picked up along the way to make your S'mores Brownies experience even better, or to help you adapt the recipe to your kitchen and preferences. First off, let's talk about that beautiful toasted marshmallow topping. While a kitchen torch gives you that perfect, quick char, not everyone has one handy. Don't worry, you can absolutely achieve a gorgeous toasted finish using your oven's broiler! Here’s how I do it: once you've spread your marshmallow fluff over the cooled brownies, preheat your broiler on high. Make sure your oven rack is in the top third of your oven, but not so close that the marshmallows will burn instantly. Place your S'mores Brownies under the broiler and watch them very closely – I mean, standing right there, door slightly ajar if needed! Marshmallows can go from perfectly golden to burnt in seconds. It usually takes less than 60 seconds, sometimes even just 30. Once they reach your desired level of golden-brown and a little bubbly, pull them out immediately. Let them set for a few minutes before slicing. This method works wonderfully for getting that authentic campfire taste without the flame. Another common question I get is about starting with a brownie mix. My recipe uses a scratch brownie, but if you're looking to save a little time, using your favorite boxed brownie mix is totally okay! Just prepare your brownie batter according to the package directions. Then, pour it over your pre-baked graham cracker crust as instructed in the main recipe. I often find that boxed mixes can be a bit sweeter, so sometimes I add a teaspoon of instant espresso powder to the mix – it deepens the chocolate flavor without making it taste like coffee. It's a little secret that really elevates store-bought mixes! Just make sure the brownie layer is fully cooled before adding your marshmallow fluff, regardless of whether it's from scratch or a mix. And speaking of s'mores in the oven, if you're ever just craving the classic s'mores experience without the brownie layer, you can totally do that too! Just layer graham crackers, chocolate pieces, and marshmallows in an oven-safe dish or on a baking sheet. Pop it into a preheated oven at about 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until the marshmallows are gooey and lightly browned. Or, use the broiler method described above for a quick toast. It's a fantastic way to get that comforting s'mores vibe indoors, especially when camping isn't an option! Lastly, a few bonus tips for your S'mores Brownies. For an extra chocolatey kick, sometimes I sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips over the brownie batter before baking. You can also experiment with different types of graham cracker crusts – maybe a chocolate graham cracker for an even richer base! When slicing, I find that oiling your knife slightly or running it under hot water between cuts helps create cleaner edges, especially with the sticky marshmallow topping. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, though honestly, these never last that long in my house! I hope these extra tips help you enjoy your S'mores Brownies even more. Happy baking!
