Epic the musical fanart

Oh my gods, if you're an Epic the Musical fan like me, you know how incredibly inspiring the characters and story are! I've been completely immersed in the world of the Trojan War reimagined, and it finally spurred me to create some fanart of two of my absolute favorites: Polites and Zeus. There's just something about bringing these epic figures to life through my own artistic lens that feels so rewarding. Let's talk about Polites first! When I started sketching, I envisioned him in a serene, almost dreamlike state. I wanted to capture his essence, which for me, includes his signature curly brown hair and glasses – elements that make him so distinct. I imagined him relaxing on soft, white clouds, perhaps contemplating his role or just finding a moment of peace amidst the chaos. The idea of him with a green wrap added a touch of natural elegance, and the tiny grey creature with a yellow flower was a little detail to emphasize his gentle nature. Creating this Polites fanart was such a joy, trying to convey his character without relying on overt action. It's always a challenge to make a character feel dynamic even in repose, but I think the cloud setting really helps tell his story. Then there's Zeus, the king of the gods! For him, I went for a much grander, more powerful aesthetic. My Zeus fanart depicts him as a commanding, dark-skinned man with long, flowing dark hair and a formidable beard, perfectly embodying his regal stature. The glowing eyes were a must, giving him that ethereal, all-seeing quality. And of course, he had to be holding lightning bolts – it’s Zeus after all! I set him against a stormy purple background to enhance the dramatic effect, really emphasizing his dominion over the heavens and his often tempestuous nature. It was exhilarating to work on, trying to convey both his power and a hint of his complex personality. Creating fanart for Epic the Musical is more than just drawing; it's about connecting with the story and characters on a deeper level. It's amazing to see how other fans interpret the characters too, whether it's through their own fanart, cool profile pictures (pfp), or even incredible Polites cosplay and Zeus cosplay. There's so much creativity in our community, from Scylla fanart to Antinous fanart, and it all adds to the richness of the Epic universe.
