why i dropped out of college
and no, it wasn’t because of money…
i had went to a community college in my area to get my degree for Interpretation as i was wanting to become an ASL interpreter (i was in ASL all years in high school and had a huge passion for it).
i loved it so much. i loved finding out everything about the Deaf community and i felt that it was my calling to become an ASL interpreter. i knew i wanted to become one since i was in middle school when i just started learning myself.
unfortunately, the program i was in was VERY time consuming. you could tell the program was built for people who were retired, was a stay at home parent, or was just learning ASL for fun and wanted something to do.
for me, i didn’t have the time to juggle a full time job, full time college (more than 40 hours at the school actually) and working on other personal things in my life (like moving and buying a home).
it was a gut wrenching decision but it had to be made for the sake of well… living lol.
i still think about going back whenever i do have the time but i don’t see it being do-able just because there a select amount of schools that offer what i need to study and one of the community colleges near me happened to have had it. :(
did you drop out of college? how did you feel about it? 🫢

Dropping out of college is a significant decision that many students face at some point in their academic journey. It's essential to understand that it's often not just about financial constraints. The pressures of balancing a full-time job alongside rigorous academic commitments can lead to burnout. Many aspiring students find themselves in a similar situation, where they prioritize their mental health and personal lives over their academic ambitions. For those considering dropping out, it's beneficial to evaluate alternative educational paths, like online courses or part-time study options. Networks and support groups can also play a vital role in helping individuals contemplating this decision. Engaging with peers who have faced similar experiences can offer valuable insights and reassurance. Reflection on one’s career goals, potential opportunities outside of traditional education, and real-life experiences can be more informative than a singular academic path. Ultimately, the journey of education varies for everyone, and each choice shapes individual growth and life experiences.

I dropped out of college too 😅 too much stuff got me! College just isn't for everyone! I love learning though, but at my own pace and actually what I want to learn!
