Arches National Park

Okay, so my original post just scratched the surface, especially when it comes to the jaw-dropping Double Arch! You know how I said it’s a 'must'? Well, let me tell you why it’s truly majestic. Standing beneath those two massive sandstone openings, it really puts into perspective the incredible power of nature. You can get such a wide view looking up from the base, and it's absolutely breathtaking. The trail to Double Arch is relatively short and easy, making it super accessible for almost everyone. I recommend going early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds and to catch some amazing light for photos. It’s perfect for capturing that iconic 'wide view' photo that you often see, showing off its sheer scale against the desert sky. But Arches National Park isn't just about Double Arch. There's another incredible formation that often comes up in searches for 'wide views': Landscape Arch. This one holds the title for one of the longest natural arches in the world! When you walk the trail towards it, you'll be amazed by its delicate, ribbon-like span. It looks almost too fragile to exist. The hike to Landscape Arch is a bit longer than Double Arch, but still very manageable for most. It’s part of the Devils Garden Trail, and while you can’t walk under it anymore (parts have fallen!), seeing it from the viewing area still offers an absolutely stunning wide view of this natural wonder. Make sure to pay attention to the surrounding rock formations – the whole area is just sculpted art. To really soak in those vast desert landscapes and get the best wide views of the arches, timing is everything. Early mornings or late afternoons offer softer light, which really brings out the colors of the red rock formations. It also helps beat the heat, which I mentioned is a real 'con' of the park. Finding elevated viewpoints (where safe!) or simply stepping back to appreciate the scale of these natural rock arches can give you that truly immersive 'wide view' experience. Don't rush; take your time to just sit and observe the beauty around you. And seriously, I can't stress enough about water! I packed a ton, but if I went again, I'd bring even more, especially if I was doing the Delicate Arch hike. Also, another little insider tip for families (or just the young at heart!): don't forget the Junior Ranger program. It’s a fun way to learn more about the park's geology and wildlife, and you get a cool badge! Exploring the Sand Dune Arch and looking for that 'mini arch' is also a delightful discovery. Arches provides so many unique natural rock formations and vast desert landscapes to explore, making every visit truly unforgettable. It’s more than just a drive-through park; it’s an adventure waiting to happen.
