Please be prepared to answer questions about your experience with training, working dogs and high drive/energy breeds. I will have questions about your goals for yourself and Pantera both short and long term. Please have a list of references (personal, training and veterinary). Though preference will be given to experienced handlers, green handlers are always welcome to apply.

Please lead with this information when reaching out, followed by any additional questions you have for us.

We will be going through inquiries and reaching back out to everyone. Placement will be based on what is the best fit for Pantera, not first come first serve.

About Pantera:

Pantera is an extremely sweet, happy, and social (dog and human) female ready to find her person.

Pantera is inquisitive, and enjoys being able to explore new environments with her person.

Her food drive is excellent, and she prefers to work for food and praise rewards vs toy rewards.

She’s ever ready to put her nose to work but could benefit from structuring that skill.

She will play tug with her reward toy but toys always come second to a snack or high praise.

(Toy value will likely improve with tim participate in PSA, FR, PPD or detection clubs/training currently.

Dogs bred for sport and working purposes thrive in active environments where their mental and physical needs are met consistently. Pantera’s excellent food drive suggests that she will respond well to positive reinforcement training techniques centered on treats and praise. From personal experience, structuring her nose work through participation in activities such as Protection Sports Association (PSA), French Ring (FR), or Protection, Patrol, Detection (PPD) training clubs can significantly enhance her engagement and fulfillment. When adopting a dog like Pantera, who is described as inquisitive and social, one of the joys is exploring new environments together. Regular, varied outings keep her stimulated and happy while strengthening your bond. Be ready to invest time in learning about her breed’s needs and energy levels, as this will help tailor a balanced training and exercise routine. It’s also helpful to have a network of references, including personal, training, and veterinary contacts, when applying for placement. This helps ensure the dog is matched to a handler who understands the demands of a working or active pet. Even for first-time handlers, enthusiasm and willingness to learn can make a big difference. Remember, the key is building trust and consistency while nurturing her skills and temperament. Ultimately, adopting Pantera offers the opportunity to partner with a loyal, motivated dog eager to work and please. Whether you aim for sport or an active companion, her affectionate and social nature makes her a wonderful addition to the right home.
