I drew & painted NewJeans X Powerpuff girls 🌸

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share the story behind my latest fan art project: bringing NewJeans and the Powerpuff Girls together on one canvas! I’ve always been a huge fan of Powerpuff Girls’ unique animation style and NewJeans’ refreshing concept, so combining them felt like a dream come true. My journey started with a simple pencil sketch on canvas. The goal was to capture the essence of each NewJeans member – Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein – within that iconic Powerpuff Girls style. It was a delightful challenge to translate their distinct personalities and features into the round, expressive forms often seen in Powerpuff Girls. I played around with different poses, making sure each character felt dynamic and true to both groups. You can see in the initial sketch how I laid out the characters, surrounded by playful hearts and stars, with 'NEWJEANS' boldly sketched at the bottom. This initial stage is crucial for any successful drawing; it’s where you solidify your vision before diving into color. Once the sketch was perfect, it was time for the painting! I chose a vibrant pink canvas as the base, which immediately set a cheerful tone. Using acrylics, I focused on a bright, colorful palette, drawing inspiration from both the Powerpuff Girls' signature hues and NewJeans' fresh aesthetic. The OCR mentioned blue, pink, and yellow, which were definitely central to my color choices. I loved seeing the characters come to life with layers of paint, carefully building up their outfits and hair. It’s all about finding that balance between the two worlds, making sure the Powerpuff Girls' bold outlines and the NewJeans members' charm both shine through. Adding those little hearts and stars in various shades really made the finished painting pop, giving it that extra touch of magic.
