Michigan Tourist Destinations
Mackinac Island - This is an island on Lake Huron, that has no cars. It is a charming place with lots to offer. Ferries run throughout the day especially during the summer. There are lots of places to rent a bike so you can explore the island. I would also recommend horseback riding, spending time at the beach, the Grand Hotel, and exploring local shops.
Tahquamenon Falls - This series of waterfalls is a must see if you like nature. There are plenty of hiking opportunities, as well as lookout spots. I would definitely recommend checking it out.
Sleeping Bear Dunes - This is a group of sand dunes that stretch across Lake Michigan’s coast line. The dunes reach 450’ above Lake Michigan. It is a lot of hard work to climb but the views definitely make it worth it.
Petoskey - This is a small town that is definitely worth exploring. If you like shopping there are plenty of local shops that are super fun to explore. If you like food, there is plenty of local food that I would recommend trying out. If you like sports, check out the winter sports park, or mini golf. There are also beaches and parks along with so much more.
The Headlands Dark Sky Park - If you like stargazing I would definitely recommend checking out a dark sky park. There is no white light allowed in the park, so the stars are super clear. There is a lookout area right by a lake where you can set up a blanket and look at the stars. There is also usually a telescope and someone who is an expert if you want to get a closer look or learn something new.
