Renee Rapp Music Video Ideas

One of my favorite artists is Renee Rapp. Here are some ideas I have for music videos for her songs. (Disclaimer these are vague descriptions of my ideas based on listening to these songs. Also keep in mind that these are all very storytelling based concepts.)

I Hate Boston - For this song I am imagining Renee walking around Boston with a rain cloud over her head. Everywhere else it is sunny but wherever she is it starts to rain. As she walks around she passes various happy couples who exist in the sunshine. As the video goes on she starts to approach the couples so that they are also being rained on. It’s sort of an if I can’t be happy why should you kind of concept.

Poison Poison - For this person I am imagining Renee and her enemy competing to try and poison each other. They attend a party in an old house near a beach and compete to be the first to take the other out while not drawing too much attention to themselves.

Gemini Moon - The first thing I thought of when thinking about concepts for this song was a busy crowd on a walking on the street seemingly so quickly that they are blurred. Amongst the chaos there is one clear image. In this case that would be Renee. This is how the video would start. Then it would start to cut to happy couples that become clear amongst the blur. Eventually it cuts to a scene of Renee looking through old photos from the relationship. This inspires her to get a reading so she can get some clarity. So she goes to a tarot card reader or a psychic.

So What Now - I don’t know why but I think that this song would work well with a black and white movie style video. The actual content of the video would include Renee and her friends gossiping over the phone when she receives word that her ex is in town. They all put on disguises and keep tabs on the ex, all reporting back to Renee.

The Wedding Song - This video would start with Renee literally writing a song. This could be her with a guitar or just with a paper and pen. Either way it would be in low light and surrounded by candles. Eventually she gets up and starts getting ready for an event. She is wearing a black dress and a mesh vale. Something that a widow would wear to a funeral. When she arrives at the event everyone is wearing white and we find out that it is a wedding. And all white wedding to be exact, and Renee is the only one in black. She sits among the crowd but stands out because of the difference of color. She even performs at this wedding with an old microphone.

I Wish - I think that the thing that makes the most sense for an I wish music video is to have it centered around Renee looking back at a younger version of herself. Whether that is through photographs or flashbacks. The video would feature moments before during and after her first memory of grief and reflect how that changed her outlook on the world.

Willow - When listening to Willow the first thing I thought of was fairies. The video would start with Renee sitting under a willow tree. As she sings magic sparkles begin gathering around her. Eventually a path is created guiding her into a magical fairy kingdom, where she is met by a bunch of magical creatures.

23 - For this video I am imaging a group of girls taking a trip to the beach. They have dinners together, do fun activities, and have the best time. At first it seems like Renee is part of this group but later in the video it is revealed that she is not. She just happened to be around them for the other scenes. The video ends with her sitting on the beach by herself.

As far as I know the songs I didn’t include from the Snow Angel album all have music videos already. A lot of the others have lyrics videos but not music videos.
