... Read moreBeing a 'dog mom' to a boy dog like Morrison has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, especially in my twenties when companionship means so much. Many people wonder if male dogs are more affectionate, and from my experience, my boy dog Morrison certainly lives up to that reputation! He's always by my side, whether I'm working at my desk or just relaxing on the couch. That constant desire to be close, to lay his head on my arm, or simply rest his paw on my foot, truly warms my heart. It's a special kind of devotion that makes you feel incredibly loved and understood. When I was considering getting a dog, one common question I had, and I know many others do too, was 'are male dogs more affectionate?' While every dog has its own personality, I’ve found that many male dogs, Cocker Spaniels included, often form a very strong and deep bond with their primary caregiver. They can be incredibly loyal and loving, often seeking out physical closeness and reassurance. Morrison is a prime example of this; his snuggles are legendary! Another big question that comes up, especially for those living in smaller spaces, is 'cocker spaniel apartment dog' – are they a good fit? I can confidently say, yes, with the right routine, a Cocker Spaniel can absolutely thrive in an apartment setting! While they are active dogs, they are also adaptable. The key is consistent exercise and mental stimulation. Daily walks, playtime at a local park, or even indoor games can help burn off their energy. Morrison loves his daily walks, and we make sure to explore different routes to keep things interesting. Inside, we play hide-and-seek with his toys, practice new tricks, and engage in puzzle feeders to keep his mind sharp. It's all about balancing their need for activity with their desire to be near you. They're not huge dogs, which also helps them manage well in smaller living areas, and their cuddly nature makes them perfect companions for cozy apartment evenings. Finally, a question I often get is 'are cocker spaniels hypoallergenic?' Unfortunately, the short answer is no, Cocker Spaniels are not considered hypoallergenic. They do shed, although it's usually moderate compared to some other breeds. Regular grooming, including brushing a few times a week, can really help manage shedding and keep their beautiful coats healthy. For me, a little dog hair is a small price to pay for the immense joy and affection Morrison brings into my life. If you're an aspiring 'dog mom' or just someone looking for an incredibly loving and loyal companion, a boy Cocker Spaniel could be your perfect match!

My little girl Breezzy loves to do that with her little paw next to or under her chin kind-of in the crock of my arm. She also gives me an evil look if I have to move that arm, like "how dare you disturb my aleep"
