Anyone else having chilly weather in May??? Unfortunately, for Ohio we’ve had highs in the 40s-50s so I had to break out my long sleeves and layers again :(
We went for dinner last night for an early Mother’s Day and I opted for an outfit that was bright enough for spring but also warm!
This long sleeve is a few years old but I highly recommend everyone has a stripey layering long sleeve in their closet. It’s the easiest way to add a fun pattern to any outfit ☺️
The free people jacket is a year old but still in stock online!! Again, something I reach for so often as I love the color pop it adds.
Lastly my Zara jeans, you can’t see them much but I just wanted to recommend the brand! So comfy and they wash up great. I’ve found some denim turns stiff after washing but these have remained so soft and wearable.

I’ve found that investing in quality basics, like a striped long sleeve tee, really ups your outfit game because stripes add a subtle yet interesting pattern without overwhelming your look. Pairing such a tee with a colorful jacket like the Free People option mentioned not only adds warmth but gives your ensemble a playful pop of color. This combo is perfect when temperatures dip but you still want to embrace spring vibes.
Denim is another crucial element; not all jeans are created equal when it comes to comfort and durability. From experience, Zara jeans do a great job maintaining their softness and fit even after multiple washes, which isn’t always common with other brands. This means you get both style and practicality, which is important for everyday wear.
I also wanted to touch on the small styling details that can elevate your outfit. The image mentions crimped hair and a fun clip, which remind me how simple accessories can personalize a look and reflect your mood or the occasion. Whether you’re heading to a casual dinner or celebrating an early Mother's Day, these subtle touches make your outfit feel intentional and fresh.
For those dealing with similarly chilly spring weather, layering is your friend. Try combining a patterned long sleeve under a vibrant jacket and your favorite pair of well-fitting jeans. Add some playful hair accessories or minimal jewelry to complete the look. This approach not only keeps you warm but also ensures you look polished and seasonally appropriate without compromising comfort.
