My name is Hannah and I’m painting all the birds in North America. The Dark-eyed Junco is a bird that really irked me when I looked into him. Why THIS bird has six, wildly different morphs all under one single species is beyond me. Especially when you consider that there seem to be countless warblers that are greenish, greyish bird with vaguely different black splotches on their heads and THEY get to be completely different spiecies. When you consider the fact that all the Junco morphs also have completely different habitats, ranges and even sizes I cannot get my head around this chaos. Any ornithologists care to help an artist out?
