Canโ€™t wait to make Apple Mint Tea ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’š

I also harvested Basil today, so yea im a proud plant mama ๐ŸŒฑ

since theyโ€™re very easy to grow, Iโ€™ll propagate them soon. So far Iโ€™ve planted sugar snap peas, onions, French breakfast radish, multicolored radish, cantaloupe, strawberries, hot and spicy oregano, and ginger ๐Ÿ˜‚ and next week itโ€™ll be a lot more. I turned my walk in closet into a mini greenhouse and my reading area and windowsill into a plant nursery. Think itโ€™s safe to say Iโ€™m an indoor plant addict ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I recently had 'My First Harvest' of beautiful apple mint, and I'm practically buzzing with excitement to turn it into a refreshing cup of tea. If you're anything like me, a proud plant parent, you know that satisfying feeling of nurturing a little green life from a tiny cutting or seed. Apple mint (Mentha suaveolens) is such a fantastic herb to grow, especially for beginners or those with limited space like me. It's known for its fuzzy leaves and a delightful, subtle fruity scent that's a bit milder than peppermint, with hints of apple โ€“ hence the name! I love how resilient it is; it practically grows itself. You can easily propagate it from cuttings, which is why I'm already planning to expand my little indoor garden. Just snip a stem, put it in water, and watch those roots appear! It thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers consistently moist soil, but it's pretty forgiving. Setting up my walk-in closet as a mini greenhouse has been a game-changer for keeping all my green babies happy. Now, let's talk about making that delicious apple mint tea. Itโ€™s incredibly simple, and thereโ€™s nothing quite like sipping a brew made from your own fresh harvest. Hereโ€™s how I like to do it: My Simple Homemade Apple Mint Tea Recipe: Ingredients: About 10-15 fresh apple mint leaves (adjust to your taste) 1 cup (240ml) hot water (just off the boil) Optional: A slice of lemon, a teaspoon of honey or agave nectar Instructions: Gently rinse your freshly harvested apple mint leaves under cool water. Pat them dry. Lightly crush or tear the leaves to release their aromatic oils. I find this really brings out the flavor! Place the crushed leaves into your favorite mug. Pour the hot water over the leaves. Steep for 5-10 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. I usually go for about 7 minutes. Strain out the leaves, or leave them in for a continued infusion (I sometimes leave them in for extra prettiness!). Add a slice of lemon and a touch of honey if you prefer a bit of sweetness and zest. Beyond its wonderful taste, apple mint tea offers some lovely benefits. For me, it's often my go-to after a meal because I find it really aids digestion, helping to soothe any upset stomach. Many people also swear by mint for its ability to freshen breath, and apple mint is no exception! Itโ€™s a naturally caffeine-free and calming beverage, perfect for winding down in the evening or a refreshing pick-me-up during the day. But wait, there's more to apple mint than just tea! Donโ€™t forget you can use it in cooking too. Iโ€™m thinking about trying to whip up a fresh mint sauce to go with some lamb, or even chopping a few leaves into a fruit salad for an unexpected burst of flavor. It's so versatile! Being an indoor plant addict has truly brought so much joy and a sense of accomplishment into my life. From cultivating sugar snap peas to growing fragrant oregano, and now enjoying my own 'Apple Mint' creations, every step is a little victory. If youโ€™re considering starting your own herb garden, I highly recommend apple mint as a delightful and rewarding choice!
