Celebrating the halfway point! 🫶📸
We are officially 20 weeks along and so far this pregnancy has flown by! I can’t believe we’ll be meeting this baby in just 4 months!!
My main focus right now is preparing myself and our home for a homebirth and really soaking in these last few months of being just us two with my first baby (although it is getting a lot harder as the bump grows 😬).
Just one week until our anatomy scan where we get to see baby for the first time and learn more about him or her!

Reaching the halfway point of pregnancy is truly a special milestone that brings a mix of excitement, anticipation, and preparation. At 20 weeks, many expectant mothers start focusing more intentionally on their birth plan and the environment they want to welcome their baby into. Preparing for a homebirth involves creating a calm, safe, and comfortable space that supports both the physical and emotional needs of labor. Having experienced this stage personally, I found that surrounding myself with familiar items, setting up areas for water birth or a supportive birthing tub when possible, and having support people ready was absolutely crucial. One of the most emotional parts of this period is the anatomy scan scheduled around the 20th week. This ultrasound is more than just a routine check; it’s a moment to connect visually with the baby, to learn if it’s a boy or girl, and to reassure that development is on track. The anticipation leading up to this appointment can feel overwhelming, yet it’s also an opportunity to bond. During these weeks, embracing the physical changes, like a growing baby bump, can sometimes feel challenging but is also a beautiful reminder of the life growing inside. Snapping maternity photos helped me cherish these moments and remember the joy amidst any discomfort. Additionally, keeping a journal or sharing updates with close friends and family can provide emotional support. For expectant moms considering homebirth, education is key. Taking childbirth education classes focused on natural birth, understanding pain management techniques, and knowing when to seek medical support creates confidence. Also, preparing the home environment with necessary supplies and emergency contacts helps ease worries. In all, these last weeks before meeting your baby are precious. Whether you’re savoring quiet time with your first baby bump or looking forward to seeing your little one for the first time on the anatomy scan, this journey is unique and meaningful. Cherish each moment, prepare thoughtfully, and celebrate your strength and anticipation as a new life chapter unfolds.
