Our daughter’s very simple FIRST birthday!

✨ How do you like to do birthday parties?

✨ Are you more for store bought cake or homemade?

✨ Would you rather stay in with a small group/solo or go out and party with a crowd?

I’d love to hear what y’all do! 🥰

I personally don’t like big crowds, but I have a big family! Usually all my brothers, sisters, the grandparents and great grandmother come to our parties. Sadly we didn’t get that this year for our girls first birthday but we still did what we could with who we had.

The theme we chose was bluey unlucky for us though, bluey seems to be so hard to find party decor where we live. So we made due with what we could find! My father in law, his wife and a family friend were able to make it, thankfully. The men grilled some awesome food and the night before I made the cake!

I love to bake it’s so much fun and so relaxing! (Minus those dishes afterwards 😂) I love having the luxury to be able to make a cake for her because I can make it how I want, plus it saves money. I know it doesn’t look like much but it was perfect for everyone here! 🥰

Also for anyone that wants to make a box cake and store icing better; instead of using the whole egg just use the egg whites! Instead of oil you can use butter and for the icing just stick a mixer in the container or put it in a stand mixer to fluff it. Might sound like such small things to do but TRUST ME! 🙌🏻

... Read moreCelebrating a child's first birthday is a milestone filled with joyous moments and cherished memories. In planning our daughter's special day, we opted for a low-key celebration with a close circle of family. Our theme was inspired by 'Bluey,' a beloved children's show, though finding themed decorations proved challenging. However, creativity shone through as we used what we had to make the celebration special. A highlight of the day was the homemade cake. Baking with love allowed me to customize the flavors and presentation, making it uniquely ours while also being budget-friendly. Homemade cakes provide an opportunity to infuse personal touches into the celebration. For those looking to enhance their cake baking, consider these tips: use egg whites for a fluffier texture, substitute oil for melted butter for rich flavor, and fluff icing with a mixer for a light and airy finish. With more parents choosing to celebrate birthdays at home, sharing ideas and experiences can inspire others to create memorable moments for their children. Whether opting for a big bash or a cozy family gathering, your child’s first birthday is an invaluable time to celebrate the love you share as a family.
