Unplanned but not unwelcome
My pregnancy wasn’t planned and our little girl was a unexpected surprise but she was very much welcome. Most people didn’t like the fact that our relationship wasn’t what others wanted but God had a plan and He will always prevail against all evil. I can’t thank Him enough for sending me my fiancé and allowing us to start a family of our own even if our time to us wasn’t right.

When I first found out about my unplanned pregnancy, a wave of emotions hit me. It wasn't just surprise; there was also a mix of fear, excitement, and a lot of 'what ifs.' It's a journey many of us embark on, and sometimes, the most beautiful things in life truly are unexpected. If you're navigating similar waters, here's some real talk from my own experience that I hope helps. First, give yourself grace. It's okay to feel whatever you're feeling. There's no right or wrong way to react to such life-changing news. I remember feeling overwhelmed, wondering how everything would change. Take a deep breath, acknowledge your emotions, and know that you're not alone. Many mamas have been right where you are. Journaling helped me immensely during those early days, allowing me to sort through the jumble of thoughts without judgment. Next, consider who your support system is. For me, my partner was my rock. Having someone to lean on, someone who shared the news and the journey, made all the difference. It doesn't have to be a romantic partner; it could be a best friend, a sibling, or a trusted family member. Share your feelings, your fears, and your hopes. Sometimes just speaking them out loud helps to process everything. Don't be afraid to seek out online communities or local groups for first-time moms; connecting with others who understand can be incredibly validating. Dealing with others' opinions can be tough, especially when your situation doesn't fit their 'ideal' timeline. I experienced this firsthand. What helped me was remembering that this is my journey, my baby, and my family. Their opinions don't define your happiness or the love you have for your child. Focus on the positive and surround yourself with people who uplift you and celebrate this new chapter, regardless of how it started. It's a good time to set boundaries and protect your peace. Also, don't forget the practical side, even if it feels daunting. Start with your first doctor's appointment. They can guide you through the next steps, provide resources, and answer all those immediate questions about prenatal care. While it might feel like a whirlwind, breaking it down into smaller tasks can make it less overwhelming. Think about setting up a budget, researching maternity leave, or even just picking out one tiny baby outfit – small steps add up. And for all the first-time moms out there, unplanned or not, remember that every parent is learning as they go. There's no perfect blueprint. Embrace the imperfections, cherish the tiny moments, and trust your instincts. My baby girl has brought so much joy and purpose into my life, proving that sometimes the best plans are the ones you never made. This 'Motherhood Real Talk' isn't always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding. You’ve got this, mama! Embrace your unique path to motherhood.
