Let’s talk PAIN

The last few posts have been about “STAYING POSITIVE” but, it’s not always butterflies and rainbows. 🌈 freaking obviously 🙄
I’ve cried, I’ve screamed, i’ve cussed, i’ve contemplated begging to get this contraption out of me! 😢
I was told…. The ONLY point of the fixator is to keep the knee in place🦴. THAT’S ALL❗️ The longer it is in the more painful it’s going to be. Your body clearly doesn’t like a foreign object clinging to it. My body is seriously PISSED 😡 at me.
The holes 🕳️ (pin sites) can’t heal at the quad because I activate that muscle 💪🏻 so much causing it to TRY to heal over and over and over again. I feel like I’m going through the inflammation process again and again and again. 😵💫
The worst part is getting off the couch or bed and allowing my leg to “dangle”. The blood rush is effing insane. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to calm the freak down ⬇️.
Lastly, let’s not forget nerve pain. The shocks, the tenderness. Nothing papered me for that. Thankfully the doctor ⚡️ told me that this is the nerves trying to heal itself. YAY! 🎉
I truly appreciate this moment I can sit down and put my thoughts 💭 on paper. 📝
Pain is often a misunderstood aspect of recovery, yet it can be pivotal in the healing process. Many undergo surgeries that require the use of fixators, leading to significant physical and emotional challenges. The body's reaction to foreign objects can manifest as intense discomfort, inflammation, and nerve pain, all of which complicate the healing journey. Nerve pain, in particular, is frequently overlooked, though it signifies that your body is attempting to heal itself. It's essential to recognize these sensations during your recovery process. Understanding these feelings fosters acceptance and aids in the management of pain. Engaging in mindfulness and positive reinforcement can help shift focus away from the discomfort. Surrounding oneself with support, whether through family or community, can also make a significant difference in navigating these hardship moments. Being informed about the recovery process allows you to anticipate experiences and build resilience. Education from credible sources on pain management strategies, and what to expect, can empower you in your journey toward healing. It's not just about enduring pain—it's about learning from it and discovering the strength within ourselves to overcome these challenges.

I’ve been through a lot health wise since I was a kid with kidney issues and dialysis and multiple hospital stays one for 8 months straight. There are times where you’re gonna want to cry, yell, cuss, whatever it is and that’s all normal trust me. You’ll get through this it’ll be hard not going to lie.
