When He Gets You…

My husband sent me this. He said,”When we first met I thought this is my Disney princess… But the more we got together, I’ve watched you grown for 9 years as a person,it was then I eventually realized you wasn’t a princess at all. You’re a true born, amazing witch.”

For a while I was practicing with Tarot Cards. I was starting to buy ghost hunting things, books, and just opening my mind to the impossible being possible. I’m still on this journey you could say. But after having 6 kids and living on one income, I’ve not been doing much of anything.. If it’s not free or thrift store cheap I’ll wait and save, or do without. I miss it though. If y’all got any books you don’t want I’d love to get some, or a good read.

... Read moreIt's funny how life unfolds, isn't it? When my husband first called me his "Disney princess," it felt sweet, but deep down, I think a part of me always knew that wasn't quite my story. Like many of us, I grew up with those fairytale expectations, but the reality is, sometimes you realize I failed as a Disney Princess. And you know what? That's completely okay. In fact, it's liberating. That feeling, that sense of being mad at Disney for setting up an unrealistic ideal, is something I think a lot of women can relate to. We're taught to wait for our prince, to be rescued, to fit into a perfectly pretty, passive mold. But life isn't a cartoon, and real women are complex, powerful, and often a little bit wild. For me, embracing that realization led to something much more authentic: the journey to confidently say, I'm a Witch now. What does that even mean, you might ask? For me, it's not about pointy hats and cauldrons (though a good cauldron is always appreciated!). It's about tapping into intuition, connecting with the natural world, and understanding the subtle energies around us. It's about personal power, self-discovery, and honoring a deeper, often unseen, side of life. My husband's observation, after nine years, that I was an amazing witch instead of a princess, wasn't an insult; it was him truly seeing me. He recognized that sparkle of magic, that drive to explore the unknown, and that strength that goes far beyond a glass slipper. My journey really took off when I started diving into things like tarot cards. There’s something incredibly empowering about using those symbols to gain insight and clarity. Then came the ghost hunting – not just for scares, but for understanding the unseen, opening my mind to possibilities beyond the conventional. I devoured witchy books, from ancient folklore to modern practices, always eager to learn more. It was all about opening my mind to the impossible being possible, as I said before. This exploration helped me understand the true meaning behind saying I'm a Witch now – it's a declaration of self-possession and inner magic. Of course, life with six kids and on one income means my witchy pursuits often take a backseat. It's hard to dedicate time and money to new tools or extensive reading when there are so many other demands. But the spirit of it never leaves. Even simple things, like brewing a strong cup of herbal tea with intention, or spending a moment grounding myself in nature, keep that flame alive. It's about integrating that powerful, intuitive self into everyday life, not just reserving it for elaborate rituals. And about being treated like a princess – while it’s nice to be cherished, there’s a profound difference between being put on a pedestal and being seen for your raw, authentic power. My husband's insight wasn't about treating me differently, but about appreciating a deeper, more profound aspect of my being. It’s a recognition of strength, wisdom, and an unwavering spirit. So, if you're out there feeling like you failed as a Disney Princess and are wondering if there’s more to life, perhaps it's time to explore your inner witch. It’s a journey of empowerment, self-love, and connection that I truly believe in. And selfishly, I'm still desperately seeking new reads! If you have any favorite witchy books – whether they're about tarot, herbalism, spiritual practices, or simply inspiring stories of powerful women – please drop your recommendations below. I'm always looking for a good read to keep my spirit nourished, especially when I can find it for free or thrift-store cheap! Let's build a community of amazing witches, sharing our wisdom and our stories.
