「箱を持ってきてください」と言われたとき、正直わが家は何を用意すればいいか迷いました。結果的に“お菓子の箱”がいちばん集めやすくて、特に円柱の箱があると授業でかなり使いやすかったです。 うちで用意した円柱は、ポテトチップスの筒（円柱っぽい形）や、丸いクッキー缶、プリングルズ系の筒など。ポイントは「まっすぐ転がる」「横にするとずっと転がる」こと。これが“かたちあそび”の「坂を転がす」活動でめちゃくちゃ分かりやすくて、子どもも家で先に転がして楽しんでいました。 もう一つ、意外と役立ったのが“立方体”に近い箱です。家にあるようで、ちょうどいいサイズの立方体って少なめ。サイコロみたいに「どの面も同じ」「積むと安定する」ので、円柱と対比すると気づきが増えます。例えば小さめのギフトボックスや、仕切りがしっかりしたお菓子箱が近い形でした。 探すときのコツは、(1)円柱（丸い筒）、(2)四角い箱（直方体）、(3)できれば立方体、の3種類を目標にすること。さらに“ボールなどの丸い形”を持っていける指示がある場合は、軽いスポンジボールやピンポン玉が安全でおすすめです（学校のルールに合わせてください）。 「学びボックス」や算数セットを買い足すより、まずは家にある箱で十分でした。汚れや匂いが気になる食品容器は避けて、記名できるように油性ペンが書ける素材を選ぶと安心です。持って行く前に、角が潰れていないか・フタが外れやすくないかも確認しました。 最後に、円柱は後々「リットル」や「体積」の学習につながる感覚づくりにもなります。まだ1年生では計算はしませんが、「この形は転がる」「こっちは止まる」「積みやすい」みたいな経験が、算数を好きになる入口になりやすいなと感じました。
