Always an attitude
As a parent, it's often surprising and sometimes humbling to see our own attitudes and behaviors reflected in our children. The phrase "parent a mini version of YOU" perfectly captures this experience. When my daughter displays an attitude that I recognize all too well from myself, it’s a moment of self-reflection and growth. Parenting life is full of such moments where patience is tested and understanding deepens. For example, encountering a child's defiant or assertive behavior can feel challenging, especially when it mirrors our own sometimes aggressive tendencies. However, these scenarios offer valuable opportunities to teach empathy, communication, and emotional regulation. Living in Connecticut, I’ve found community support and parenting forums helpful to share these experiences with others facing similar situations. Being a girl mom and a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) adds layers to this journey, fostering a close bond that allows for honest lessons in managing attitudes together. Embracing the #sometimesaggressive moments with love rather than frustration transforms parenting challenges into bonding experiences. It’s important to remember that children mimic what they see, so cultivating a calm and positive attitude ourselves can lead to calmer interactions at home. Parenting is a continual learning process, and sharing these authentic stories helps us all to feel less alone in navigating the ups and downs of raising strong, spirited kids.
