Crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
•1/2 Ib (225 g) ground beef
• 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
• 1 tbsp ketchup
• 1 tsp mustard
• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• Salt & pepper, to taste
• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or American cheese slices, chopped)
• 8-10 egg roll wrappers
• Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Cook the beef:
1 In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned.
2 Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let cool slightly.
Assemble egg rolls:
3 Lay out an egg roll wrapper with one corner facing you (like a diamond).
4 Spoon 2 tbsp of beef mixture and some shredded cheese in the center.
5 Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then the sides, and roll tightly.
6 Seal the edge with a bit of water.
Fry until golden:
7 Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
8 Fry egg rolls 2-3 minutes per side until crisp and golden.
9 Drain on paper towels.
Serve hot:
10 Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and extra pickles on the side!
Optional Dipping Sauces:
Burger sauce (mix mayo + ketchup + pickle relish + a dash of mustard)
