THE BUS STOP INCIDENT.!!!
Motherhood has been a real roller coaster for me. I learn more from day to day about myself and about my children. The most annoying thing to me is when someone critiques your parenting because it doesn’t align with the way they believe parenting should be done.
Well the other morning I am at the bus stop with my sons (pre-K and first grade) waiting for the bus to arrive. When the bus arrived, the bus driver was really short with them and immediately told me that my first grader got a write up. I asked why? She proceeded to say that he was being insubordinate by not sitting down and kept questioning her when she told him something about it.
I turned to my son and asked him what happened on the bus. He told me that he kept standing up trying to get the bus driver’s attention because HER son kept standing up and saying bad words. He said the bus driver yelled at him and told him to sit down. He said he asked her why is she only yelling at him and not HER son and that it wasn’t fair.
At that moment she said he can not ride the bus and that that was the problem with these new age parents, raising children with no respect. I didn’t want to cause a scene, but I did let her know that she was the problem and the children. I was proud of my son for using his voice. Was I wrong.
