Lupus - Raymond

Sharing my personal journey living with Raynaud's phenomenon, a condition often associated with Lupus and Hashimoto's. Hopefully this video helps someone realize that these

"symptoms" are not normal. Push for answers. You're not alone.

... Read moreIt's so important to talk about how conditions like Raynaud's and Lupus can intersect with major life events, and pregnancy is definitely one of them. I've heard from so many of you wondering about early signs, especially during such a crucial time like being 39 weeks pregnant. It's a valid concern, and navigating these symptoms while expecting can be incredibly daunting. Raynaud's phenomenon, where your blood vessels overreact to cold or stress, causing fingers and toes to go numb and change color, can be a primary condition or a secondary one, often linked to autoimmune diseases like Lupus. When you're pregnant, your body undergoes immense changes, affecting everything from blood volume to hormone levels. For some, these changes can actually trigger or worsen Raynaud's symptoms. It’s not uncommon for people to experience new or intensified episodes during pregnancy, and sometimes these can be early indicators of an underlying autoimmune issue like Lupus that hadn't been fully diagnosed before. One of the biggest challenges, especially with conditions like Lupus, is that the symptoms can be incredibly varied and often mimic common pregnancy discomforts – fatigue, joint pain, swelling. This makes it so easy for both patients and sometimes even doctors to overlook them, leading to that frustrating feeling of, "But you don't look sick." Trust me, I've been there. My advice? Document *everything*. Keep a symptom journal, noting when attacks happen, what triggers them, and how long they last. If you're 39 weeks pregnant and noticing new or worsening Raynaud's symptoms, or experiencing unexplained fatigue, rashes, or joint pain, please, please bring it up with your OB-GYN or a rheumatologist immediately. They might want to run specific blood tests to check for autoimmune markers. While a Raynaud's flare isn't usually a direct threat to the baby, severe cases, especially those linked to underlying autoimmune conditions, need careful management to ensure a healthy outcome for both you and your little one. They might discuss medication adjustments, regular monitoring of blood pressure, and fetal growth. It's all about advocating for yourself. You know your body best. Don't let anyone dismiss your concerns just because 'you don't look sick.' Push for answers, ask for referrals, and ensure you're getting the comprehensive care you deserve. There are many resources and support groups out there for pregnant individuals living with autoimmune conditions. Remember, you're not alone in this journey, and getting an early diagnosis or better management plan can make a world of difference for your well-being and your baby's health.

Could it be lupus? What to know BEFORE you see a doctor
You’ve been tired for way too long. Your joints hurt. You feel off. You’ve gone to the doctor… and left with no real answers. Here’s the thing: Lupus can be sneaky. It mimics other conditions and hides behind vague symptoms. And many people (especially women) go years without a diagnosis.
