What am I reading right now?(Book series edition)

So, most of you probably don’t know this, but I recently returned to my love of reading after a VERY long hiatus. I try to make time for it when I can, and at the moment I’m only able to read during my breaks at work. But coming back to the written word has been such a solace for me.

It’s been a goal of mine to step away from the screen more often and read the books that have been piling up and rotting on my shelf for over two years now. It’s been so easy to just doomscroll and feel nothing but dread, I don’t want things to be like that anymore. I’m determined to take care of myself and my loved ones and do what I can.

Last year I almost read my 12 book goal, and this year I’m trying for it again! I’m reading multiple series as well as stand alone novels both old and new! I’ll share below! vvv

The Murderbot Diaries- Martha Wells

(Purchased new)

•Published in 2017.

•About 7 Novels and 3 Short Stories long.

•Genuinely interesting and funny, with dry humor and plenty of suspense.

•VERY short Novels, about 300 or less pages.

•So easy to love the MC, it’s very awkward and introverted.

The Witcher- Anderzej Sapkowski

(Purchased used from Betterworldbooks.com)

•Published in 1992-1993.

•About 8 books long (with a possible 9th happening soon).

•Fleshes out the Witcher games VERY nicely and are constantly referenced in them.

•More of a collection of short stories, occasionally with a longer one taking up several chapters.

•Would recommend reading these OUT of order. A REDDIT post provides the best order with the most chronological timeline.

Assassins Creed- Oliver Bowden

(Purchased new)

•Published 2009

•About 10+ Books, one for each game

•Written by a multitude of authors

•A good companion to the games, providing a blow for blow account of the events

•Still provides a fresh take on characters and worldbuilding while sticking close to the events of the game

Warriors- Erin Hunter

(Purchased new AND used from a mixture of stores)

•Published in 2003

•A WHOPPING 100+ BOOKS

•Really detailed worldbuilding as the books progress

•Tackles some REALLY intense subject matter in a world of Feral cats

•Really loved this as a kid, ADORE IT as an adult!

Temperance Brennan- Kathy Reichs

(Donated to me by a beloved coworker)

•Published in 1997

•22 book series

•Inspired the TV show ‘Bones’

•Does a deep dive into forensic anthropology as well as crime scene investigation tools

•Each book focuses on different types of crimes as well!

•Very interesting, esp if you’re a true crime girlie.l
