I'm going to tickle your pickle
“I'm gonna tickle your toes tonight!” – ever whisper that playfully to your pet, especially when they're totally zonked out? It's a silly thought, but sometimes those sleepy moments with our fur babies are the cutest! Just the other day, I caught my beautiful brown, black, and white tabby cat in the deepest sleep. Her half-closed eyes and relaxed pose just screamed, “I AM so TIRED •MG AGH!” It was so adorable, it actually made me wonder if she'd even feel it if I tried to gently tickle her little toe beans. Imagine the surprise if she suddenly woke up from a deep dream of chasing endless laser pointers! We all know cat paws are super sensitive, right? Usually, a quick touch sends them into a frenzy of kicking or playful swatting. But when they're that tired, sometimes they don't even stir. It's like they're in another dimension, dreaming of chasing mice or endless naps. My sleepy tabby cat is a pro at ignoring the world when she's in a deep slumber. It's incredible how much cats sleep – up to two-thirds of their lives! They're masters of napping, always recharging for their active periods, typically at dawn and dusk. My particular tabby is a champion at finding the sunniest spot for her extensive beauty sleep, often looking like the picture of ultimate relaxation (or extreme tiredness!). While the idea of a playful 'toe tickle' is fun, it's always important to respect our pets' sleep. If you do engage in gentle paw play, make sure it's soft and brief. You want to see a happy purr, not a startled flinch! Sometimes, just watching them rest peacefully is the best way to show love. But a very soft, gentle toe-bean touch can be a sweet, momentary interaction. So, if you're ever jokingly thinking, “I will tickle your toes tonight” to your very tired kitty, remember their super sensitive paws and precious sleep! What are your cats' quirkiest sleepy habits?
