Comparison is dangerous

We've all been there, right? Scrolling through social media, seeing someone else's seemingly perfect life, their booming career, or their effortless success, and feeling that familiar pang of comparison. "Comparison is dangerous," the article rightly states, and I’ve felt that danger firsthand. It's so easy to get lost in someone else's stage and completely miss the beauty and purpose in your own wilderness. But what does it really mean when the article talks about comparing your "divine process" to someone's "demonic elevation"? This concept really hit home for me. I started thinking about how some accomplishments in the world might look shiny on the outside but could actually be harmful to our spiritual health. It's not about judging others, but about protecting our own walk. A "demonic elevation" might be a quick, flashy rise to power or fame that lacks a solid foundation, built on fleeting trends or even questionable ethics. It's a stage that might be a "Satan's trap," designed to distract and ensnare. It promises much but leaves you empty, never truly established. On the other hand, our "divine process" is God's careful, often slower, work in our lives. It's about character building, spiritual growth, and aligning with His purpose. It might not always look glamorous or yield instant gratification, but it's where God is truly "developing your purpose." This process leads to true establishment, something that cannot be shaken. The OCR picked up on "only God can establish," and that's the core truth. While the enemy can elevate quickly, it's temporary. God's work is eternal and foundational. So, how do we stop envying the wicked and protect our spiritual journey? I've found a few things help. First, daily gratitude for my own blessings, no matter how small they seem compared to others. Second, actively focusing on my own lane. What is God calling me to do today? What's my next small step in my divine process? This helps me stop "missing my healing" and recognize the unique work God is doing in me. Third, I often revisit passages like Psalm 37:1-2 (NLT), which reminds us, "Don't worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither." This scripture is a powerful anchor, reminding me that temporary, worldly success is just that – temporary. It’s a constant battle, but recognizing that "comparison is dangerous" and understanding the difference between divine establishment and fleeting elevation has been truly liberating. It helps me stay grounded, protect my spiritual peace, and trust that God is always working for my good, even when I'm in the wilderness.
