Samsung Galaxy Note9's Camera Review in 2025
Only focus on cameras. 📸
Use Auto mode and do not customize further.
I'll look at the practicality and compare it to the current handset. Although the Note9 was a former flagship several years ago, the camera hardware still has good capabilities in some ways.
Highlights of the Note9 camera (that still works well)
• Dual Camera (Dual Camera) 12MP + 12MP
• Dual Aperture f / 1.5-f / 2.4: This is a highlight that makes taking pictures in the dark better than many mobile phones today, because the wide aperture of f / 1.5 allows for very good exposure.
• 2x Optical Zoom Lens: 2-fold Optical zoom. Image is also sharp. Detail is better than digital zoom.
• Can zoom up to 10x Digital
• OIS vibration system: There is an optical vibrator on both the main camera and the zoom camera, making the picture and the video calm enough.
📉 restrictions compared to mobile in 2025
• There are no Ultrawide lenses, which most handsets now have, so they can't take pictures at a wide angle.
• Take pictures in low light, although the aperture is wide, but there is no divine AI to process them like new phones, and the sensors are smaller, making them take pictures in complete darkness, or night mode cannot fight new phones.
• Detail & Sharpness: The 12MP camera (compared to 50MP or 200MP in the new model) will provide noticeably less detail and image dimensions.
• Taking Portrait mode in low light, the image is very dark, requiring enough light to work.
• Shooting with Portrait mode will cut the object edge, not smooth if it needs to be very blurred, and achieve image tone, not like normal mode, but can be customized with AI to edit the image in the gallery to normal skin color (edited figure available).
• Front camera: 8MP (compared to 12MP in current models) is considered quite outdated. The quality of selfie photos in low light is much lower.
🎯 So who should it be for?
• Fits people who buy inexpensive (used) and focus on general use, take pictures that are light enough, do not want a camera feature like Ultrawide, Zoom Glyver, or Night Mode, a premium like that.
• Not suitable for people who want super beautiful pictures in every light, focus on still video shoots, or people who want complete camera features on the 2020 flagship.
🌟 Overall summary: Also fine for general photography with sufficient light.
2025, the Samsung Note9 camera is still okay to take pictures or play on social media, but compared to the new flagship, it's already old.
